While James Gunn is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he has just revealed that his new feature film had just broken a somewhat unusual world record. Indeed, the film has just dethroned The Grinch on this unlikely element. As a reminder, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected for May 3, 2023 in dark rooms.

Expected May 3, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently filming. Still led by James Gunn, the feature film will bring the usual team back to the fore : Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and obviously Rocket Raccoon and Groot, always dubbed by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel respectively.
Logically, the plot should tell how the team will go in search of Gamoraback from the dead in Avengers: Endgame. The story will also confront the team with the powerful Adam Warlock, who will be played by Will Poulter. Finally, according to James Gunn, this will be the last we see of this Guardians of the Galaxy team, which suggests that many characters could find death. A way for him to reproduce his approach to The Suicide Squad.

Whereas Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently filming, James Gunn just set a brand new world record. Finally, it is not James Gunn moreover, but the film itself. The filmmaker took to his Twitter account to reveal that the Legacy Effects team has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 now holds the world record for the largest make-up application in a single production. A record that was previously held by The Grinch by Ron Howard.

And James Gunn is right. It’s important to maintain a certain appetite for the use of old school visual effects, composed of puppets, make-up and animatronic rather than an indecent use of CGI all the time. Anyway, can’t wait to see the result.
