The Time Traveler's Wife: after Doctor Who and Sherlock, Steven Moffat unveils his new series on HBO

One of the most beloved British showrunners in the world, Steven Moffat is about to release its brand new series: The Time Traveler’s Wife.

A promising series

It took an episode of Doctor Who to make the name of Steven Moffat completely inseparable from that of the famous British series. I have to say that Blinkthe episode in question, is absolutely captivating, and must have participated in convincing the BBC to hand over the reins of Doctor Who to the Scottish screenwriter. Over the years, Steven Moffat has become one of Britain’s most famous showrunnerswith Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, taboo) and Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey).

Specialist in adaptations of masterpieces of British literature, he adapted brilliantly The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson in Jekyll (2007), then The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle in sherlock between 2010 and 2017before tackling the Dracula by Bram Stoker in the eponymous mini-series. Courted by Hollywood, he also signed the script for Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn for Steven Spielberg in 2011.

While the BBC has unveiled the identity of the actor who will play the next Doctor, the British screenwriter returns this Monday, May 16, 2022 with his brand new series, The Time Traveler’s Wife. Produced and broadcast by HBO, and broadcast in France on OCS, this mini-series is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by the American Audrey Niffeneggertranslated into French under the title Time is nothing. The series tells us the love story of Clare Abshire and Henry DeTamblewhich is complicated by the latter’s strange genetic disease: he is thrown back in time against his will.

For this first American series, Steven Moffat called on two British actors to embody this cursed couple: Rose Leslie (Ygritte in Game Of Thrones) and Theo James (Castlevania, The Witcher). The staging was entrusted to David Nutter, who directed nine episodes of Game Of Thronesincluding episode 9 of season 3 (the famous Purple Wedding), as well as three episodes of season 8.

As evidenced by the trailer, this mini-series is very promising. It will end on June 20, 2022. Do not hesitate to tell us in the comments if this new series by Steven Moffat interests you! Moreover, we remind you that HBO recently released the trailers for House of the Dragonthe spin-off of Game Of Thronesand season 4 of Westworld.
