It is this summer that will be released on our screens Thor: Love and Thunder with Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. The film will take place after Endgame and for this new adventure, Thor will be in the company of the Guardians of the Galaxy whose next opus is currently being filmed. Thus, with their appearance in Taika Waititi’s film, James Gunn wanted his colleague to make some adjustments to his script.
A new adventure for Thor with Guardians of the Galaxy
After his failure to kill Thanos in Infinity War, Thor has joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. In this next film dedicated to the God of Thunder, Marvel has unveiled the synopsis which will offer “a journey unlike anything he has known so far: a quest for inner peaceHowever, this spiritual retreat for Thor will only be short-lived when he must face Gorr the Butcher of the Gods alongside Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster, who now wields Mjolnir.
We’ve known for a while that the Guardians of the Galaxy would take part in this new adventure of Thor and we got to see the first images of Thor and Star-Lord in the movie’s trailer released last week.
Gunn keeps watch
It is for this reason that James Gunn was around to make sure there was no inconsistency with what he planned to do for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director spoke on his Twitter account to explain requesting that adjustments be made to the scenario of Love and Thunder :

James Gunn does not give no more information about the changes that have been made. But judging by his response, it doesn’t seem like a complete rewrite of the script, but some small details or bits of dialogue that have been reviewed. It must be said that it is interesting to see that the directors of the MCU cooperate to avoid any inconsistency between the different films offered to the public.
Guardians of the Galaxy shouldn’t feature prominently in Love and Thunder. They should abandon Thor to go their own way. But they could have a strong enough involvement in the story for Waititi to ensure the Guardians take the direction Gunn wants for their own adventure.
