The Batman 2: this villain that we would love to see in the sequel

With The Batman, DC has brilliantly managed to bring a new face to some of the flagship characters of its universe. Building on its success, the film is widely acclaimed by the public and should therefore return, shortly, in a sequel. This new episode would then have the perfect setup to see this villain from Suicide Squad to come back in the front of the scene…

A forgotten suicide squad villain

In the much criticized Suicide Squad (first of the name), a group of criminals with extraordinary abilities had been brought together to protect humanity. Among them were several relatively mistreated villains, such as for example Killer Croc, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

At the time, David Ayer’s blockbuster failed to properly introduce the character, not least because of the many heads that appeared in the film. Killer Croc then appeared simplified to the maximum, passing him off as just the service monster. If the villain hasn’t finally reappeared in The Suicide Squadit may well be found in The Batman 2. In any case, several elements seem to suggest it…

Known under the identity of Waylon Jones, Killer Croc was born from a genetic mutation that gave him reptilian features. He is a force of nature and one of Batman’s fiercest enemies. Unfortunately, in the film Suicide Squadhis screen time has been reduced to a minimum.

The ideal playground

The Batman 2 could then come and correct the affront of Suicide Squad turning Killer Croc into a convincing villain. The sequel would be perfect for this, due to the end of The Batman. Flooding caused by Riddler’s explosives seem to pave the way for Killer Croc. In this context, the character could unfold his full potential and would a horrific villain possibly usable by Matt Reeves.

Gotham’s flood creates the perfect setting for Killer Croc takes control of the city. With Pattinson’s Batman not yet comfortable in the air, that would make the hero the perfect prey for the villain. Moreover, it would be possible to keep the “investigative” aspect of The Batman keeping the mystery around the whereabouts of Killer Croc’s lair.

Given that Matt Reeves seems to have already teased the identity of the next film’s future villain, Killer Croc’s chances of spawning in The Batman 2 seem weak. Even though the character doesn’t appear as the main villain in the film, his introduction would offer a deserved redemption to the villain of Suicide Squad.
