Mace Windu was last seen in the film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sithdating from 2005. He had his arm severed by Anakin Skywalker before being electrocuted and thrown out of a window by Palpatine never to be seen again.
In 2016, Samuel L.Jackson said to his fans: “For me, I [Mace Windu] am not dead, Jedi can fall from great heights without dying.” And now, more than ever, the actor is going out of his way (no pun intended) to return in the Star Wars universe.

During a recent check-in granted to the podcast “Happy Sad Confused”Samuel L. Jackson was asked about the new trailer for the series Obi-Wan Kenobi and on whether his in-universe character Star WarsMace Windu, is still alive with one hand, somewhere in the expanding universe. The actor said:
There’s a lot of people with one hand coming back in Star Wars. The only person I’ve talked to about it is Bryce Dallas Howard because I just did a movie with her. She directs episodes of The Mandalorian. I told him : “Do you think you might be able to do a favor for a brother? I mean, you like me don’t you?”. She replied: “I love you, you are amazing!”. So put me back in there. Put me in boss, I’m ready! You know, I can learn to wield a lightsaber with my left hand. Come on, hook me up.
