Spider-Man No Way Home: Hulk and Wong would be the only ones to remember the identity of Peter Parker

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Dr. Strange is forced to make a difficult decision to fix reality. The former Sorcerer Supreme develops a spell that returns all of Spider-Man’s villains to their respective universes. But in return, all the characters in the reality in which the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) takes place have forgotten the secret identity of Spider-Man. That is to say that nobody remembers anymore that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Which complicates the life of our dear Peter…

Spider-Man: No Way Home – new beginning

With this dramatic conclusion for the superhero, Spider-Man: No Way Home offers a brand new start to Peter Parker. While neither MJ nor Ned remember him, our protagonist is forced to make a whole new start in his life. Indeed, the fate of Dr Strange has dramatic repercussions on the daily life of Peter Parker. His entire timeline since revealing his identity has been erased. No one knows Spider-Man exists anymore, and his friends have become strangers.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will have serious consequences for the rest of the MCU, starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. For the moment, difficult to know if the spell of Dr Strange has totally worked, or if some characters still remember Peter Parker as Spider-Man.

Hulk and Wong in the confidence?

According to a recent theory shared on Reddit, some characters would still remember the secret identity of Peter Parker. According to one hypothesis, Wong could be an exception to Dr Strange’s fate. This theory is based on a simple sentence uttered by Wong at the beginning of the film. Indeed, when Peter Parker comes to Dr Strange for help at the beginning of Spider-Man: No Way HomeWong warns him saying “Leave me out of it all”. A simple line that therefore suggests that Wong may have retained his memory. This theory is reinforced by a scene moments later. When Dr. Strange begins his spell, Peter Parker keeps interrupting him to change his spell and leave his loved ones out of it all. At the end, Strange replies that he interrupted his spell 6 times.. Peter Parker takes it back and recalls that he only bothered him 5 times. This sixth person could therefore be Wong.

Another theory concerns the Hulk. Indeed, in the comics, Dr Strange has already done oblivion spells. But every time if Bruce Banner is obviously touched by the magic of the Sorcerer Supreme, Hulk seems immune. Indeed, in the comics, when Strange does a similar spell, Hulk is reminded of Peter Parker’s secret identity, unlike his counterpart Bruce Banner. It should be remembered, however, that in Avengers: Endgame, Hulk and Banner become one. So if Dr. Bruce Banner retained this form, maybe that theory doesn’t hold water. Anyway, these are two rather interesting hypotheses, which we should know more about shortly.
