First victory for Pixar employees. After accusing Disney of censorship and homophobia, the Mickey-eared franchise has reinstated an LGBT scene originally cut from the edit in its upcoming animated film.

Pixar 1 – 0 Disney. Looks Like Pixar Employees Just Won a first victory against their parent company, Disney. Recently, they published an open letter accusing the Mickey-eared franchise of censorship and homophobia. As they explained, any LGBT scenes or explicitly gay, non-binary or other character scenarios were removed or edited. Disney boss Bob Chapek was particularly pointed since he had given his financial support to a law aimed at prohibiting teachings on gender identity and sexual orientation in public elementary schools in Florida.
variety just announced that a scene featuring a kiss between two women had just been allowed to resume her place in the script. Originally deleted, Disney has obviously reconsidered some past decisions that have left Pixar’s creative team increasingly frustrated. If nothing is changed in the meantime, this will allow this animated film to enter the history of cinema… And for good reason, it would be the first feature film aimed at young audiences to explicitly show a same-sex couple sharing a kiss.
buzz lightning, the toy story spin-off can go down in history
We do not make the suspense last longer, the project concerned is Buzz Lightyear (Lightyear in VO)the spin-off of the saga Toy Story. The next Pixar will explore the story of the legendary space ranger (voiced by Chris Evans) who inspired the eponymous toy. Within his adventure, he will meet Hawthorne (voiced by actress Uzo Aduba ofOrange Is the New Black), a woman in a relationship with another woman. Lightyear intends to present a sequence during which she exchanges a loving kiss with her partner. Initially censored, this scene should finally appear in the story after strong protests from Pixar employees. If Disney sticks to its new positions, Buzz Lightning will really be the occasion to take us to infinity and beyond !
