After Marvel, DC shakes up the releases of Aquaman 2, The Flash, Shazam...

A few months ago, Marvel Studios surprised everyone by postponing a large part of their upcoming productions. It is now up to all of the competition to do the same, since the next DC feature films are also postponed. Fans will have to take their troubles patiently.

Warner disrupts its programs

Whether in cinema, video games or even music, postponements are generally not a good sign. Because if they give the opportunity to the teams to better polish their works, they most often testify to poor organization or a product that is far from perfect. And sometimes, an additional period of a few months is not enough to save the furniture. But let’s not jump to conclusions about the many DC movies, which Warner has just announced the postponement.

Thereby, that’s no less than five DC films whose release has been delayed, four of which are part of the studios’ extended cinematic universe. Unexpected news, after the great critical and commercial success of The Batman, in theaters for a week. Because if Matt Reeves’ feature film was clearly the most anticipated of the year on the side of DC fans and superheroes in general, other productions were also expected. Take for example Aquaman 2 and The Flashboth postponed to 2023. And, you will see, they are far from the only ones to see their release date largely modified.

Reports at DC, but not only

Yes Aquaman 2starring Jason Momoa, has been postponed for three months (release now set for March 17, 2023)the most impressive delay concerns The Flash. Originally scheduled for November 4, 2022, it will finally have to wait until June 23, 2023 to discover it at the cinema! But that’s not all, since black adam, with Dwayne Johnson, is meanwhile postponed from July 29 to October 21, 2022. In its place will be released the animated film Krypto super-dog, which is not part of the DCEU. Postponed two months this one will allow you to find Keanu Reeves in the dubbing of Batman, or even Dwayne Johnson in that of Krypto the dog of Superman.

Only good news for DC fans: Shazam! Fury of the Godswhich is brought forward to December 16, 2022 instead of June 2, 2023. A real “Christmas present this year” according to Warner, which recalls that “families of all ages will enjoy”. Outside of superhero movies, Wonka, who will dwell on the youth of the famous character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and who will be interpreted here by Timothée Chalamet, will also be released six months late, on December 15, 2023.

No precise explanation was communicated by Warner, which simply evokes the health crisis. Not sure that this is enough to console the disappointed spectators. In the meantime, let’s remind latecomers that on the DC side, The Batman is still available at the cinema and that despite its enormous success, the film is not unanimous everywhere…
