Actors and friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will once again work together on the occasion of a new biopic. The two actors will indeed participate in a film that will retrace the creation of the Air Jordans in the mid-1980s. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will participate in the production and writing of this project.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon: A Longtime Friendship
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are longtime collaborators. The two actors worked together on several occasions as in The difference in 1993, in Dogman and Ultimate Scorn by Kevin Smith released in 2000 and 1997 respectively, and more recently in The Last Duel by Ridley Scott.
But the feature film that brought them eternal respect in the cinema world is obviously Will Hunting. Released in 1998, the work of Gus Van Sant is an immense classic in which the two actors excel. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck mostly won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for their work on this masterpiece of the seventh art.
A new meeting of the two actors
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will once again team up. The cult duo will indeed write and produce a sports biopic that will focus on Phil Knight and Sonny Vaccarotwo former Nike executives, who harassed basketball legend Michael Jordan in the mid 1980s in the hope of having an unprecedented collaboration. The film does not yet have a title, but will therefore tell how the Air Jordans were born. It is Ben Affleck himself who will carry out the project on behalf of Amazon Studios and Skydance Sports. This will be the very first time that Ben Affleck will direct his friend Matt Damon in one of his achievements.
The two actors should logically embody the two promoters from Nike. But we do not yet know who will camp the famous Michael Jordan. The feature film will obviously be inspired by the documentary 30 for 30 – Sole Man aired on ESPN in 2015. The story was about how Phil Knight and Sonny Vaccaro insisted for years to Michael Jordan that he agree to wear the Nike brand. An unprecedented partnership that transformed the Nike brand into a multi-billion dollar industry. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but maybe this new collaboration between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will spark as much as Will Hunting.
