It is always important to look at the merchandising of one film when one is interested in him, especially if he comes from a blockbuster disney. As it happens, Thor: Love and Thunder is no exception to the rule since recent information leaksfrom leaksrevealed important elements about the main characters of the next movie.
Thor: Love, Thunder and figurines
There is no hesitation in saying that the MCU films and in general all those of superheroes have generated a monumental hype for a few years. Disney has understood that revenues from merchandising and related products are far greater than those from cinema admissions.. So it is important for the company to respect a very strict release schedule so that the release of the various figurines and toys coincides with the release of the film. But that means involving more people in the process of creating the film, and increases the risk of revealing certain parts of the story of it. Very embarrassing for the spoiler, but very practical to feed the hype around the highly anticipated films. Just look at all the scandal that has been Spider-Man: No Way Home to realize that, and how successful the movie was. Thor: Love and Thunder is currently somewhat overshadowed by the most recent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbut a recent leak of his character figurines tells us a lot.
Indeed, figurines from the Build A Figure range have leaked on Instagram and Twitter. On these you can see seven different toys featuring various MCU characters with new outfits and accessories. We thus have the presence of Thor (logic) which has two figurines on which we will come back later, a figurine of Star Lord, one of Grootbut also three more intriguing ones, with one from the film’s main villain: Gorrone of Valkyrie and one of… Female Thorsoberly named mighty thor. It’s not so much the presence of these characters that appeals as their look and the title associated with them.
Thor 4 : big screenplay clues!
In effect, one of two male Thor figures depicts him as “Ravager Thor” either the name of the group to which belongs Peter Quill, alias Star-Lord and whose Youndu was the leader. Thor could thus be part of the band or – knowing the character of the character – have become their leader if Youndu is not back as this theory hopes. Among the other interesting elements is the figurine named “King Valkyrie” confirming that Tessa Thompson will be crowned Queen of Asgard (or King?). The “Mighty Thor” figurine represents the character of Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. The fact that her name was left unwritten implies that she will drop it the moment she regains control of Mjolnir.
But one of the elements that has most intrigued fans on the Internet is the figurine of the great villain of the film, Gorr the godslayer since we can see him represented physically on his figurine, and accompanied by his trusty sword named Le Noir, the Necroblade, who is actually a symbiote. Many hope to see the arrival of symbiotes in the MCU thanks to this character, especially after the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. But given what happened with Morbius in Sony’s filmography, he may be still a little early to see a symbiote appear in a Marvel movie one day owned by Disney.
