Sims fans have been eagerly awaiting this announcement. Electronics Arts made an appointment with its community last night for the revelation of new content linked to its lucrative license. What did not fail to trigger many speculations: A Sims 5a DLC for The Sims 4, an announcement related to NFTs? It is once again the indestructible 4th opus which was privileged.
An unstoppable game
The day before the announcement, the Twitter page of sims did not say more, except for a very short teaser hit with the emblematic green diamond of the license. It is clear that a Sims 5 is greatly hoped for, while this 4th opus has been running the machines for 8 years now. With a total of 48 expansions, split into 11 Expansion Packs, 10 Game Packs, 18 Stuff Packs, and 9 Kits, that’s a lot. An expectation that can be compared to that experienced by aficionados of GTA and the desperate wait for GTA 6.
Especially since the Electronic Arts game had been somewhat splashed: last October, more than 20,000 people signed a petition to allow sims to be more inclusive for the LGBTQIA+ community. What about Sims 5 ?
If the announcement has undoubtedly made many disappointed, we could expect yet another content for Sims 4since in a recent blog post posted on ea.com, the vice-president of Maxis thus explained that new additional content (paying obviously) was still expected on the game.
So when will we see the Sims 5 on our machines? The only real announcement was in April 2021 when the head of EA studios said that “the team is hard at work on the next generation of the Sims experience “. From what we hear behind the scenes, The Sims 5 would still be in the pre-production stage, and it seems that development has only just begun.
