Earlier this year, the franchise The Legend of Zelda blew out its 36 candles. A legendary video game license that regularly makes headlines. This week again, an Italian voice actor from Breath of the Wild confirmed a rumor of the sequel to the game. A Breath of the Wild 2 postponed which should still give way to a new release, which could well be this cult game of the license.
a remaster to compensate for the postponement?
For more than three decades, players have been exposed to the adventures of Link, a Hylian whose kingdom is in danger. Different eras, diverse and varied antagonists, more or less adult adventures, The Legend of Zelda has managed to present itself as an essential video game franchise. Opus after opus, the saga of Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka has never ceased to amaze. And in 2022, The Legend of Zelda was to offer players the opportunity to discover Breath of the Wild 2 (which will have a different title), direct sequel to the eponymous game.
But this year, Nintendo made the heavy decision to postpone its highly anticipated game. A decision with serious consequences which suggests that no Zelda game would be released in 2022. Only, since 2017 and the release of Breath of the Wild to accompany the launch of the Switch, Nintendo released a Zelda game every year. Breath of the Wild in 2017, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition in 2018, A Link to the Past in 2019, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in 2020 and Skyward Sword HD in 2021, enough to allow fans of the franchise to be satiated at any time.
No Zelda game in 2022 then? A question that may well have found its answer thanks to information from Jeff Grubb. Always well informed the American insider recently revealed in his podcast that Nintendo will compensate for this postponement with the release of a remastered version:
“If they don’t release this or another Zelda game this year instead of waiting for Breath of the Wild 2, I won’t understand. I think this game, even though it was a joke in the Mega64 video, I believe it will actually be released in October.“
Two games are then affected by this announcement: The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. Remastered versions released for Wii U in 2013 and 2016 that have yet to find their way to the Switch. But with the postponement of Breath of the Wild 2it’s a safe bet that Nintendo will fill this void with yet another remaster. Releases that continue to sell like hot cakes despite the complaints. No reason for Nintendo not to succumb to the urge to bring its entire catalog up to date for a new release. A lack of originality which nevertheless allows new players to discover these excellent titles, while letting the fans of the first hour enjoy these new versions landed with a reworked technique.
On your side, would you rather Nintendo take advantage of the postponement of Breath of the Wild 2 to release a new remaster or that the Japanese publisher leaves this place vacant? Do not hesitate to answer us via the comment section.
