The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein...: these Bethesda classics are free for Steam players

Last February, publisher Bethesda announced the closure of its Bethesda.net launcher and invited its users to migrate to Steam. Today, as we rapidly approach the site’s shutdown, scheduled for May 11, Bethesda announced having added some of its games, hitherto only accessible via its platform, to the Steam digital storefront.

Three games accessible without paying a penny

From now on, five new titles from Bethesda are available on Steam. These are franchise classics The Elder Scrolls and Wolfenstein. three of them can be added to your library for free, while the other two will be accessible by paying a few euros.

Here is the list of games offered by Bethesda to Steam players:

  • The Elder Scrolls: Arena
  • The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall
  • Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

At present, there is no telling us if these games will be permanently offered for free or if it will be necessary to proceed to the checkout after a certain date which will be given to us later. We therefore advise all Steam players, who are interested in this offer, to add these games to their library as soon as possible.

Two other games in exchange for a few euros

As for the last two games recently added to the Steam catalog, Bethesda will not offer them to you for free. To access it, you will have to pay the modest sum of €5.99 for each game.

Here are the names of the two titles that are now available for purchase on Steam:

  • The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Red Guard
  • An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire

With this offer, Bethesda offers you access to five of the games that have contributed to its fame for less than 12 €. It is important to specify to those who would not have understood it that this is not a “remake” or a “remaster”, but many original versions of the games announced above.

Finally, we remind you that the Bethesda.net launcher will close its doors from May 11. Starting today, the company is offering power gamers transfer their data, as well as their virtual wallet to the Steam platform.

Besides, if you have a Steam account, we invite you to discover this little indie game which is currently a real hit on the platform.
