The Batman: Warner makes the announcement fans of the film have all been waiting for

March 2 was released The Batman in cinemas across France. The opportunity for fans of the dark knight to discover the new adventures of Bruce Wayne, interpreted by Robert Pattinson. And despite the initial preconceptions, the film seduced, collecting more than 759 million dollars at the worldwide box office. Faced with this success, Warner finally resolved to make the announcement that all fans of the film were waiting for.

A new era for the franchise

Upon its arrival at the box office, The Batman hit hard. 257,546 admissions in France for its first day of operation, promising results which were confirmed a few days later with 1,165,588 admissions for its first week at the box office. A film closer to comics which hits the mark and which stands out as a renewal for a franchise long dominated unanimously by Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

And with the good health of The Batman, an obvious sequel is on the horizon. Especially since, according to some American media, a trilogy has already been planned, as well as spin-offs. Collin Farrell will even be honored with a series on HBO Max, allowing him to deepen the role of the Penguin, whose screen time has been deemed insufficient by some. And while actor Nicolas Cage would see himself playing the character of Edgar Head, aka Egg Skull, in a sequel to The Batman, Warner took advantage of its presence at CinemaCon to confirm that a The Batman 2 had been validated.

an expected announcement

Great news for fans of The Batman, who will thus be able to find the touch of Matt Reeves, the director of the first film, and the acting of Robert Pattinson. Both were called back for this sequel, the information of which is meager. No advanced release date or even shared storyline, only Reeves allowed himself a short statement, specifying that he was “excited to dive back into this world“, but that he “will talk about it at an upcoming CinemaCon“.

As you will have understood, it is still too early to know the ins and outs of this confirmed sequel. Nevertheless, it is likely that The Batman won’t come out until 2024. And for good reason, no trace of any script. The production would therefore be in its infancy, difficult to foresee a release there for next year. Warner is obviously likely to make us lie in the coming months. On your side, are you satisfied with this announcement? Would you have preferred that The Batman stops at a movie? A different director perhaps? Do not hesitate to answer us via the comment section.
