Star Wars: discover the impressive number of questions asked by Luke in the original trilogy

Luke Skywalker is an iconic character in the universe of Star Wars. Portrayed by Mark Hamill throughout the franchise, he first appeared in the original trilogy. He has since returned to postlogy and The Mandalorian. If today, Luke Skywalker is the face of a whole generation, in the first part of the saga, Star Wars: A New Hopethis protagonist was a somewhat naive kid who asked a lot of questions (often a bit silly…).

Luke Skywalker: the face of Star Wars

It was in 1977, when Star Wars: A New Hope comes out in the dark rooms, that the spectators discover the face of Mark Hamill in the skin of the young Luke Skywalker. Quickly, the character becomes emblematic of an entire generation and becomes one of the most famous Jedi of all time. This hero with a big heart then returned several times: in the two other episodes of the trilogy, but also in The force awakensin The Last Jediin The Mandalorian and in The Boba Fett Book.

Yet, in A new hope, Luke is not yet the powerful hero that we know. It’s still only one a little lost kid who asks a lot of questions. Lots of questions even…

A mind-boggling number of questions

Throughout the first film, and more broadly the first trilogy, Luke asks himself a lot of questions about his past, about the Force, on the role of the Jedi, on Obi-Wan’s past, etc… It’s very simple, he spends his time asking questions to Obi-Wan and later to Yoda. A fan recently posted a message on Twitter in which it reveals the impressive number of questions posed by Luke in the original trilogy. According to Chris Lucard, Luke Skywalker sets out 118 questions in the first three films of the license. 118 questions! Mark Hamill came across this fan’s tweet, and then shared the post, along with a short text:

It makes me smile to think of that person who sat through the whole trilogy counting and keeping track of how many questions I asked! Unless he said it out loud. It’s a bit crude and irritating, and it probably ruined those movies, which I disapprove of.

I gotta smile to think of someone actually sitting through the whole trilogy just to count & keep track of how many questions I asked! Unless they did it out loud. That’s just rude & irritating & probably ruined those movies for the entire audience, which I frown upon. https://t.co/JHIGQf1RRo

The actor therefore takes this remark with his legendary second degree. He does not hesitate to criticize Chris Lucard if he counted the questions aloud. In any case, it’s quite funny to see the impressive number of questions that Luke asks throughout the trilogy. We knew that the character was talkative and naive, but at this point?
