Red Alert: 22 easter-eggs you missed in the latest Pixar on Disney+

Since March 11, 2022, Red alert is available exclusively on Disney+. The 25th production from Pixar studios was soon to receive very good reviews. If it was its story and its characters that were able to seduce the public, the most attentive were also able to spend a particularly pleasant moment in front of the film: it is full of easter-eggs of all kinds! We have therefore listed a good twenty of them. Of course, beware of spoilers!

#1 Code a113

Code A113 is a recurring easter-egg from Pixar animated films and refers to a classroom at Cal Arts University in Los Angeles, through which many members of Hollywood have passed.

#2 The Pixar Ball

The blue and yellow Pixar balloon with a red star is once again back in Red Alerte. This time, we can see it floating on the water of a swimming pool.

#3 Toronto Blue Jays

After the destruction of the Rogers Center in Toronto, which was still called SkyDome at the time in which takes place Red alerta shot shows us a blue bird in front of the stadium. This is a reference to the Toronto Blue Jays, a baseball team used to playing in the stadium.

#4 purl

A new reference to an old Pixar short film with this cute little ball of yarn, which holds the title role in purlreleased in 2018.

#5 The Simpsons

When she passes by these statues, Mei greets them by naming them “Bart” and “Lisa”, which are recesses. the names of Homer and Marge Simpson’s two oldest children in the famous series.

#6 Bao

A direct reference to Bao, a Pixar short film released in 2018.

#7 buzz Lightning

As usual, Pixar teases its next film in the one before it. In this case, it is Buzz Lightyear, since the sticker refers to the cute little animal that can be seen in the movie trailer.

#8 Twilight

A young teenage girl (Priya) reading the last novel in a saga with what appear to be vampires. Does it ring a bell ?

#9 The Crossing of Time

The posture that Mei takes during this impressive jump refers directly to the character of Makoto in Crossing Timea Japanese animated film released in 2006.

#10 The world of Nemo

You have to have an eye, but in this scene you can see a sticker with the effigy of the little clownfish on a toilet door.

#11 Toy Story

On the right of this image, we find the truck of the company Pizza Planet of Toy Storywith its famous rocket on the roof.

#12 toy story 3

We stay in the same universe with a particularly subtle reference here: Mei’s house number 234 is the same as Andy’s second house, as Woody teaches us in Toy Story 3.

#13 NSYNC

4*Town is inspired by popular boy bands from the early 2000s. Among them is *NSYNC, which also has an asterisk in its name. Probably not a mere coincidence.

#14 Anime

Since emotions are at the heart ofRed alertwe note that they generally manifest themselves through the eyes of the protagonists, which become bright and whose pupils dilate strongly. An artifice that is generally found in anime.

#15 Godzilla

We don’t make you a drawing, the analogy with the gigantic ultra-popular world of pop-culture is obvious here.

#16 King Kong

In this scene, Mei’s mother, in the form of a giant beast, grabs the young girl and then holds her in her hand, in the same way as does King Kong (below, that of Peter Jackson in 2005) with the character of Ann Darrow.

#17 My Burrow

The rabbit visible in the notebook held by Mei’s mother is the main character of the six-minute short film My Burrow, produced by Pixar in 2020.

#18 coconut

“Escapula”which can be read on the t-shirt of this handsome young man, is the name of a rock band that appears in the film coconut.

#19 Luke

When Mei has a crush on a young boy, she draws him as if he were a mermaid. A reference to the half-man half-marine animal nature of Luca’s character in the eponymous film.

#20 Mulan

This dish looks suspiciously like the one that ate Mulan in 1998.

#21 Nokia

Red alert takes place in 2002. At that time, Nokia was still a juggernaut in the telephone industry. Between the shape of the phone that Mei holds in her hand and her name “Jokia”, the reference is one-could-be-clearer.

#22 Drunk

We end with a reference to the last Pixar film released before Red alert, Drunk. To separate Mei from the spirit of the red panda, the girl must be the subject of a ceremony during which a portal must be opened to the astral realm. Probably a parallel with the Astral Plane of Drunk, whose door between the world of souls and that of men must also be drawn on the ground.

And if you’ve seen the movie and are enjoying it, you’ll be pleased to hear that Pixar is already considering a potential sequel!
