Despite the resounding failure of TENET at the global box office, due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans of Christopher Nolan are eagerly awaiting the return of the American-British director. Announced in October 2021, Oppenheimer is set for a theatrical release on July 19, 2023and is currently being filmed.
And although the filmmaker seems to be moving away from the SF themes that are dear to him with his second historical drama (after Dunkirk), this new project gives us particular desire. And for good reason, Christopher Nolan has gathered around him a team of faithful, including one of his favorite actors: the Irishman Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), who will sign his sixth collaboration with the director, after Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Dunkirk.
We will also find Matt Damon (Interstellar), James D’Arcy (Dunkirk), Kenneth Branagh (Dunkirk, TENET), Gary Oldman (the trilogy The Dark Knight), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight) or Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises). We remind you that before announcing the production of his twelfth feature film, Christopher Nolan had slammed the door of Warner, of which he was one of the greatest collaborators. In question the studio’s new policy during the coronavirus crisis, which would have affected many films, including Dunes by Denis Villeneuve and Matrix Resurrections by Lana Wachowski.
Oppenheimer will therefore be Nolan’s first film produced by Universal.
