Netflix, a new scam spotted!

Now, phishing is more and more present in our lives. This technique used by scammers to obtain personal information is on the rise.

In fact, this time we will tell you about the new Netflix scam. It must be said that the latter is therefore one of the brands most imitated by scammers since 2020. And the least we can say is that the famous streaming platform is particularly well done. So how does it work? Well, we’ll tell you.

Beware of this new Netflix scam

First, you receive an email that appears to be from your favorite SVOD (video on demand) service, telling you that your Netflix subscription has expired. Which is not true. The objective is therefore to trick you into entering all your bank details on the fake website.

On the other hand, regulars will be able to spot certain flaws. This is what we will actually see in the rest of this article.

There are clues that show that it is in fact a scam. First of all, by reading the mail more closely, you can see that there are French mistakes. And in an official email, it’s obviously very rare to see that. Besides, we are sure that Netflix would never have left such language errors in an official document.

Then the end of the mail written in English language and the date in American style as follows, (month/day/year). This is now enough to make us wonder what is going on. In addition, the fake website is found to be characterized as “unsecure” by several browsers.

And of course, the real Netflix site is never characterized as such.

A few tips to avoid getting tricked

In fact, there are several tricks to avoid falling into the trap.

If we spoke to you earlier about Netflix in particular, phishing does not only concern this streaming platform.

Therefore, we advise you to change your passwords regularly. Similarly, it would also be preferable not to use mdp mail via the various services you use.

Next, be aware that, generally, phishing emails are anonymous. That is, your name does not appear. So if you don’t see it, that’s not a good sign.

Finally, be aware that no organization, public like the tax administration or private like Netflix, will ask you for your bank details or your personal information by mail.

So if you received a phishing email like this, you should now ignore it. And if you have any doubts about the origin of the email, you should contact the organization in question as soon as possible.
