Moon Knight: these villains were originally supposed to appear in the Marvel series

This May 4, Disney + was broadcasting the final episode of the series Moon Knight. The latest fiction from Marvel Studios followed the adventures of Steven Grant and Marc Spector, two personalities sharing the same body envelope. Along their journey, they had to face many entitiesbut as the producer reveals, Moon Knight could have presented other villains well known to comic book fans!

Moon Knight on Disney +, the conclusion revealed

That’s it, it’s over. Highly anticipated by MCU fans, Moon Knight unveiled its final episode this May 4 on Disney+. The opportunity to read our recap ‘in order to fully understand the issues of the post-generic scene. As a reminder, Moon Knight follows the adventures of Steven Grant, a gift shop employee who suffers from blackouts and reality distortion. One day he will learn that he finally shares his body with Marc Spectora mercenary responding to orders of an evil Egyptian entity nicknamed Khonshu. To get away with the enemies who threaten to exterminate them, Marc and Steven are forced to team up…

The final episode has finally been unveiled and it must be said that unfortunately it was not unanimous with the spectators. Many criticize the production for not having integrated the many action scenes that appear in the comics, in addition to having presented an episode much shorter than the others. However, this sixth episode still had its share of twists and turns: Marc and Spector managed to free themselves from Khonshu’s control, at least certainly for a moment… And for good reason, the post-credits scene revealed that the two men actually shared their bodies with a third personality! If for the moment, Marvel has not expressed itself on the fate of Moon Knight nor on the future of the character within the MCU, Jérémy Slater, the executive producer of the series has however entrusted on the choice of his antagonist against Steven and Marc in Moon Knight.

What villains could have been featured in Moon Knight ?

In the comics, the villains who face Moon Knight are numerous. Mephisto, Moon Shade, Randall Spector, the Sun King, Midnight, Bullseye are among its main enemies. However, Marvel Studios has chosen to focus on Arthur Harrow, whose story arc was changed in fiction. For example, in the comics he didn’t have any superpowers but used his genius intellect to experiment on people in an attempt to create a formula that could end all human pain.

after The DirectJérémy Slater reveals qWhich villain he originally wanted to feature in Moon Knight : “I want to admit that Bushman was in my first two versions of the script, and we tried to consider several different versions of him. In the end, it was I who made the decision to eliminate Bushman. I went to Marvel and said I’m not comfortable with it, can we release it and talk about different versions, and they’ve always been very supportive.” However, Bushman was not completely excluded from the series: he was discreetly introduced in episode 5 of Moon Knightwhat he means he does now integral part of the MCU!

Naturally, the show’s producer considered other antagonists : “We really looked at all the classic villain types. There were a few that we dwelled on like Stained Glass Scarlet, Zodiac and different characters like that. parameters of the story that we were telling, so we were like, ‘You know what, can we just introduce one guy? They gave me a list of all the villains that have appeared in the Moon Knight comics. I just passed and I was like, ‘Arthur Harrow, that sounds like a cool villain name, let’s go.'”

This is how Harrow, played on screen by Ethan Hawke, was chosen in the series Moon Knight. We imagine that it will be mentioned again in a potential sequel, which will be responsible for highlighting new antagonists against Marc Spector. For now, a season 2 of the series still seems uncertain. Yes MoHamed Diabthe director of the series, wants to be reassuring by explaining that there are still many things to develop concerning the narrative arc of Moon Knight, Grant Curtis, the producer of the series, seems less optimistic. “We don’t know if there will be a next season. Marvel doesn’t follow a conventional path (…).We never discussed a season 2, but one day, there will be an expansionbut I don’t know what it will look like”, he revealed to Deadline. For his part, Oscar Isaac says he is ready to take over the role if he is offered. Just waiting for the verdict from Marvel Studios!
