Marvel: this star of the Halo series wants to be the next Wolverine of the MCU

The fans of Marvel Cinematic Universe (mcu) are eager to see who will be the next actor to embody one of the Super hero most iconic in the universe Marveland in particular X-MenI obviously mean Wolverine. While some already imagine a few actors in the role, like Daniel Radcliffe for example, a new suitor to the title recently came to light.

a coat that is difficult to pick up

And taking back the Wolverine title is no easy feat, especially when you know who you have to go after. Because Hugh Jackman is the only actor to have portrayed the character on the big screen so far, having played him for nearly 20 years in the franchise. X-Men from Fox. And the actor bowed out in the role with the movie Logan of 2017, which turned out to be perfect timing with Disney which began the process of acquiring Fox soon after. The film rights of the X-Men thus returned to Marvel Studios in 2019, with the objective of setting up a reboot of these characters in the MCU universe, Wolverine included.

But Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm plans for the X-Men franchise.. We just know that Ryan Reynolds will make his MCU debut with Deadpool 3but also that Patrick Stewart should surprisingly return in the role of Professor X with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While this raised hopes that Hugh Jackman could also return to portray Wolverine for an appearance in the MCU, it seems more than likely that Marvel Studios will recast the role instead. And since no new actor has yet been officially announced for the role, Pablo Schreiber tried his luck stating that he would be delighted to play the character.

from master chief to wolverine?

Schreiber was invited by The Playlist on the occasion of the promotion of the new series Halo out on Paramount+, and in which the actor plays the role of Spartan John 117, better known as Master Chief. During the chat, the actor was asked about the possibility of him ever being in the Marvel Universe. Schreiber then revealed that he had spoken to Marvel several times in the past., but nothing came of it. He then said this about Wolverine:

I had several discussions with Marvel during my journey as an actor. We did not manage to agree on the right role at the right time but I obviously remain open. […] Yes, it was about the role [de Wolverine] during sometime. It would be fantastic and it would certainly be a dream cast. He’s been my favorite superhero since childhood. I spent a lot of time with this comic book character.

This isn’t the first time Schreiber has expressed his desire to play Wolverine, but he is also not the only actor who is eyeing the role or that fans would like to see. Taron Egertonknown in particular for his main role in the films Kingsman, is one of the most popular suggestions, recognized for his talent as an actor, but also for his “small” size, closer to the size of the character in the comics. The British actor would also be young enough to be able to play the character for a while.

And size may well be the thing that will stand in the way of Schreiber, because from the height of its 1 meter 96, it will be complicated to perfectly transcribe the small and stocky image of Wolverine conveyed by the comics. However, if he manages to land the role, this will allow another member of the Schreiber family to enter the Marvel universe. Because his half-brother, Liev Schreiber, had embodied the character of Tooth-de-sabre in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). It would also be a small tribute to the origins of Wolverine, Pablo Schreiber being also of Canadian origin.
