One of the greatest strengths of superheroes is that they give the impression of being almost invincible, of being able to resist all forms of attack. Some are even endowed with regenerative abilities that seem to make them more or less immortal. This is particularly the case with Deadpool, but his daughter has found a way to put an end to her father’s life, once and for all.
When immortality is the misfortune of Deadpool
For many, Deadpool is the goofy, bloodthirsty anti-hero who spins fat jokes even in the worst of circumstances and regularly breaks the fourth wall. And if all this is indeed true, the films with Ryan Reynolds, but also the comics, have repeatedly shown us another more intimate aspect of the character.
If you’re not a hardcore Deadpool fan, you might not know that this one has a daughter named Eleanor, with whom he has a complicated relationship. Nevertheless, it is in a poetic way that father and daughter find themselves in the comic Deadpool: The End by Joe Kelly and Mike Hawthrone, released in early 2020.
In it, Wade Wilson, his real name, is faced with one of the biggest flaws of his “immortality”: he can helplessly witness the death of his loved ones while he never dies. Here, it is the case with his daughter. But she found a solution to allow her father to leave with her.
A poetic death for Deadpool and his daughter
In Deadpool: The End, we are witnessing a particularly touching and rather unusual scene for a comic Dead Pool : Wade Wilson’s 97-year-old daughter, Eleanor, is on the verge of death. But, aware that her father cannot imagine continuing to live without her, she makes an unexpected revelation. In fact, we learn thatmanaged to concoct a multitude of neutrino bombs, elementary particles which, here, would incinerate Wade Wilson and Eleanor in the space of a thousandth of a second, disintegrating their brains in the process.
Moreover, these bombs are attached to a sort of miniature black hole capable of absorbing the explosions, but also all the cells of the two organisms. However, if all the cells disappear from Deadpool’s body, then he will no longer be able to regenerate and will, this time, be dead. Proof that despite its apparent invincibility linked to its incredible regenerative abilities, Deadpool is not immortal. This could therefore play tricks on the character played by Ryan Reynolds in the third film in the franchise.
A very poetic common death and during a very touching scene despite the legendary humor of Deadpool, who can’t help but tease his daughter to the end: “After everything I’ve taught you, couldn’t you think of anything funnier than that?” all followed by an exchange of insults that one imagines affectionate. In short, a nice end for the famous anti-hero in the stand-alone comic titled Deadpool: The End, which manages to link tragedy and humor successfully.
