After satisfying the expectations of the most impatient with Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony must continue to expand its home-grown cinematic universe alongside Marvel’s flowerbeds. Morbius, Venom, Spider-Man, characters who will soon welcome yet another protagonist: Kraven the hunter. A film scheduled for early 2023, the first images of which have just been released.

After Venom in 2018, Venom : Let There Be Carnage in 2021 and Morbius at the end of March, Sony and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe are due to return next year with a film based on Kraven the hunter. This character, which appeared for the first time in the 15th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 1) in August 1964, was born from the imagination of Steve Ditko and Stan Lee, the two geniuses at Marvel Comics. This recurring antagonist of Spider-Man, whose real name is none other than Sergei Kravinov, is not an enemy to be taken lightly. And for good reason, although he is devoid of superhuman powers, he remains an Olympic-level athlete, a fine strategist, an excellent tracker and hunter, and even an expert in hand-to-hand combat.
However, Kravinov’s range of skills does not stop there. His notions in human anatomy allow him to know ardently the pressure points of humans and animals. It is with extreme precision that he is therefore able to neutralize creatures, such as his human prey, even if they are more powerful than him. This fine hunter is also adept at making exotic poisons. Worse still, by ingesting a potion made from various herbs, Kraven is able to greatly enhance his senses, to the point of rivaling Spider-Man’s superhuman senses.

This formidable enemy must now have the right to a real cinematic introduction. Early 2023 should release the film Kraven the hunter, based on that specific character. And like any film, a shooting period is necessary. That of Kraven began recently, as confirmed by the first images of filming immortalized in the middle of London this weekend.

As you can see, it is not Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the main actor of the film Kraven the hunter, who is visible in the images, but his stunt double. The film crews will be back in the British capital on March 26 and 27 for new video takes. A shoot that would have taken place in Iceland last February if we are to believe the latest rumors from the hallway. At any rate, this Kraven the Hunter movie now needs to share more information with us. A feature film in which Aaron Taylor-Johnson, formerly Pietro Maximoff on the side of Marvel, will give the reply to Ariana DeBose (Calypso), an unknown character played by Russell Crowe as well as an antagonist interpreted by Alessandro Nivola, the character from The Foreigner by Christopher Abbott and the Chameleon, played by Fred Hechinger.
