Kaamelott: Alexandre Astier reveals the shooting date and duration of KV2

A few days after his half-brother Simon unveiled the first trailer for his new series, Alexandre Astier unveils the filming date of the sequel to Kaamelott: First Part.

Good news

Eight after the release of the highly anticipated Kaamelott: First Partwhich was a resounding success in cinemas, Alexandre Astier fans are watching for any news about the rest of the saga. Indeed, the first film, which ended with Arthur’s victory over Lancelot and Meleagant’s return in a post-credits scene, left us with many questions we’re dying to have answered.

Considering the interminably long wait (twelve years) that separated the end of the series Kaamelott and the exit of Kaamelott: First Partone could wonder when would come out KV2. Recently, while he was invited on the set of the show As an aside on Canal +, the actor-director-screenwriter confided in the shooting of the second film.

The second part will be in two parts. It’s a bit like Kill Bill, you know? It’s 2 x 2 hours, separated by 4-5 months out. So already for me it’s a 4 hour shoot. It’s a little different. I would like to shoot next spring. In the spring of 2023, if I get there.

Thus, in accordance with what Alexandre Astier had said on the set of Day-to-day last August, the second film will be divided into two parts. An understandable choice. Because if Kaamelott: First Part was mostly appreciated by fans of the series, some regretted that the film, condensed into two hours, was ultimately too short for all it had to say. Fans will therefore be entitled to twice as much Kaamelottfor their greatest pleasure!

Of course, the most important news concerns the start date of filming. If it is obviously at this stage always hypothetical (Alexandre Astier has often confessed to always being late on the deadlines), nevertheless, the director, usually very discreet, allows himself to give information on this subject. If the film, still in writing, is shot in the spring of 2023, then we can probably expect a release in late 2023-early 2024. We look forward !
