A first official attraction is unveiled

Currently, Studio Ghibli continues to produce many films, but that hasn’t stopped the teams from unveil one of the park’s first attractions a few months before its official opening. For the occasion, this attraction is directly inspired by one of the first films produced by the studio and which allowed it to build up a community of fans and become the famous animation studio.

Inspired by one of the studio’s earliest productions

Thus, for this first attraction it is the animated movie The castle in the Sky who is honored. Released in 1986 in Japan, the film features sky pirates attacking a flying fortress. They are looking for a flying stone that belongs to the young Sheeta. She is held prisoner but will manage to escape and take refuge with Pazu, a boy of her age. When they meet, they discover a common point: Laputa, a legendary island in the sky that they will manage to reach thanks to the flying stone of Sheeta.

Inspired by this story, Studio Ghibli has therefore just published a first preview of the attraction entitled “Elevator Tower” (the “Tower-Elevator”) which recreates one of the places of the film and which will also serve as the entrance to the park.

We can notice that its design is strongly inspired by the steampunk trend and that this tower is made of metal. She’s from elsewhere accessible free of charge from this Wednesday.

In this area of the park called “Dondoko Mori”, we should also find a reconstruction of the sanctuaries of My Neighbor Totoro including a wooden play structure for children.
