Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: the screenwriter reveals the fate of (SPOILER) after the end of the film

The screenwriter of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not stingy with details about his film. The latter mentioned the fate of the Illuminati in a previous interview, and this time he decides to tell us more about the fate of an iconic character from the film. We take stock of this subject which should be of interest to fans of the MCU.

WARNING: this article contains spoilers concerning the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Do not continue reading if you do not want to read it.

Focus on the main characters of Doctor Strange 2

The film Doctor Strange 2, as its name suggests, centers of course around Stephen Strange, and his discovery of the multiverse. As we explained in our review of the film, this is an introductory movie to the multiverseand in this, bring in the character of Scarlet Witch.

On his side, after the events of Wanda Vision, Wanda embraced the power of the Darkhold, a magical book with immense dark power, and became Scarlet Witch. To resurrect and protect the children she briefly had on the show, Wanda is indeed looking for America Chavez, in order to steal his powers. It’s not until the end of the film that Wanda realizes she’s become the danger she wanted to protect her children from, and causes her throne to crumble on top of herself, which appears to kill her. But what is it really, in fact? The screenwriter accepted to reveal more on the subject.

Was Wanda really killed?

During an exclusive interview granted to our colleagues from ScreenRantMichael Waldron addresses the fate of Wanda at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When asked if audiences will see Wanda again, the screenwriter begins by stating:

Well, it’s Wanda against a giant mountain. Who would win in your opinion?

A nice rhetorical question. But the screenwriter does not stop there, and explains:

I think, as Stephen said, she did the right thing in the end. I think she leaves this movie not as Scarlet Witch, but as Wanda. And I think that’s a heartwarming final feeling.

Michael Waldron did not, of course, the right to reveal everything that happened to Wanda, since we will find out in a future MCU film, but the general feeling it leaves is the following: Scarlet Witch would have died at the end of the film, and Wanda, for her part, would have returned to her, by some means . We are convinced of it: between a giant mountain and Wanda, it is Wanda who wins. We are, after all, talking about the mightiest of the Avengers here. And it should be noted that actress Elizabeth Olsen has extended her contract with Marvel Studios for another seven years. We may see her again in the MCU as a variant, but the real Wanda deserves another ending, under the spotlight.
