Will Doctor Strange really be a horror movie?
We can safely say that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should be a bit more horrifying than previous MCU films. But will it be as dark as some hope? The American classification service gives us some answers to this question.
The verdict is in! Doctor Strange 2 gets a PG-13 rating across the Atlantic. This means that it may not be suitable for minors under the age of 13, but that the accompaniment of an adult to see the film is not compulsory.
This classification has above all the merit of showing us that the film will be all public. Despite Scott Derrickson’s desire to make it a horrific production, Kevin Feige seems to have had the last word and decided to keep the family side of Marvel movies. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse then scoops the same classification as previous MCU productions that have already been released.
“Scary” sequences to be expected!
In its press release, the organization in charge of the classification nevertheless teaches us other elements. He tells us that Doctor Strange 2 should still contain “intense sequences of violence and action, scary pictures and foul language”.
So yes, we are a long way from a Rated R movie (classification which obliges minors under 17 to be accompanied to attend the session). However, we will find some traces of the dark and horrifying side that we were promised at the start. In France, the film should have the right to nothing more than a warning.
