Who says May, says annual revaluations of social assistance and the Smic according to inflation. But this month also has several deadlines not to be missed.
Minimum wage increase
As provided for in the Labor Code, the Smic is revalued on May 1. And this when the consumer price index increases by more than 2%. This being 2.65% higher in March 2022 compared to the previous measurement, in November 2021, the level of the Smic therefore increases by the same percentage from this Sunday.
The gross monthly minimum wage in mainland France thus goes from 1,603.12 to 1,645.58 euros for a full-time job, which gives a net monthly minimum wage of 1,302.64 euros instead of 1,269 euros previously. The increase is 34 euros net per month.
After the previous revaluation on January 1, 2022 – also due to inflation -, the minimum wage will therefore have increased by 5.9% and taken 72 euros net in one year: it went from 1230.60 euros in May 2021 to 1302, 64 euros from this Sunday.
Increase in social assistance
As for the benefits paid by the National Family Allowance Fund, their revaluation reached 1.8%. That is twice less than the inflation rate of 4.5% over one year in March. This slight increase will apply to family allowances. To the basic allowance for young children. Additional child care. To the PreParE for parents on parental leave. At the RSA. To the activity bonus, as well as to the next back-to-school allowance, which will be paid in August.
Note that the Disabled Adult Allowance (AAH), increased on April 1, will begin to be paid in early May, and will increase from 903.60 to 919.86 euros.
Evolution of the price of tobacco
Tobacco prices fluctuate slightly from Sunday, according to the French customs document.
The pack of 20 red Lucky Strike Original cigarettes loses 20 cents, going from 10.20 to 10 euros, but it is the 10 cent drops that are the most numerous: long Lucky Strike (red, blue and gold), Peter Stuyvesant ( silver, blue and red), Rothmans (blue, Red Select and London), Vogue L’Originale (white, blue, pastel), Winfield red, etc.
Conversely, several models of the Winston brand take 10 cents.
Revaluation of the minimum wage, increase in social benefits, tobacco prices… What changes on May 1
The Smic will benefit from an automatic increase of 2.65% and many packs of cigarettes will experience a drop in price of 10 cents. https://t.co/DP6RdXQb2c
