kevin feige’s star wars movie

Screenwriter Michael Waldron recently revealed some details about Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie story, including his involvement with the franchise. The Marvel Studios boss’s new film was announced at the end of 2019 as one of many new Star Wars projects in the works at Disney and Lucasfilm, also including the film Rogue Squadron by Patty Jenkins, scheduled for late 2023, as well as a film by Taika Waititi.

Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie was first developed in silence for months, until fans learned that Michael Waldron was going to write the screenplay early last year. Waldron became known to the general public for his work as a screenwriter on the first season of the series Lokiand more recently on the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, allowing him to continue with Disney on other franchises of the brand. And now that his projects with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are over, Waldron has shared new information regarding his journey through the Star Wars universe.

During an interview with variety for Doctor Strange 2, so the screenwriter gave some details regarding Feige’s Star Wars movie. He thus confirmed that from now on, he was working seriously on the project, and then hinted that the story could be totally disconnected from what happened before in the franchise. He said:

We are finally getting serious about it. I mean, I’m writing right now. This is very fun. I appreciate having the freedom to do something that’s not necessarily a sequel or whatever. There are no connections with other films and series as I had to do for Doctor Strange 2. So it’s good, it’s a different exercise.

This statement from Waldron regarding Feige’s Star Wars movie comes a few days after the screenwriter confirmed he was busy writing the screenplay for the project. Although his new comments don’t yet know when the public can expect to see the Star Wars film of the big boss of the MCU, we at least know that the project is still in progress, and that it is moving forward.

And if some might be disappointed about the lack of connection with the existing trilogieswho may even be skeptical as to how it could interfere with the lore already in place, this project could also be the occasion to see certain periods never seen before adapted on the big screen, like that of the High Republic for example.
