Marvel: here's why Stephen Strange would be the perfect leader of the Avengers after Doctor Strange 2

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (whose easter-eggs you can check out here) hit theaters just a week ago, fans are already looking ahead to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many wonder whether a avengers 5 in good and due form will eventually see the light of day. If this is the case, the famous team of superheroes will be very different from what we have known so far. She will also need a new leader, and Doctor Strange just might be the perfect candidate!

!!! SPOILERS for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness !!!

Popular but missing Avengers

If he started very strong with the incredible Iron Man of 2008, the MCU has nevertheless largely gained in scale thereafter, by making the highest-grossing film franchise in history. If we owe this to the quality of Marvel feature films, which is generally there, it is especially the Avengers films that have allowed the franchise to take off, bringing together many of the world’s most popular superheroes.

However, it has already been three years since the fourth and latest installment, Avengers: Endgame, is out. While this one ended the Infinity arc after Thanos was finally defeated, the human toll was particularly heavy for the superhero team. The biggest loss is obviously that of Iron Man, which resulted in the Avengers breaking up somewhat. But Doctor Strange could well take up the torch.

If several superheroes could become unofficial leaders, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaves, more than ever, to think that the character played by Benedict Cumberbatch would be the perfect choice.

Doctor Strange replacing Tony Stark?

In “Doctor Strange 2”, Stephen proves that he can be a leader, that he can guide those who need it to face the difficulties: he proved it by allowing America Chavez to flee the Scarlet Witch. He also made a new ally at the end of the film, certainly in a forced way, in the person of Clea, a newcomer to the MCU.

He is now one of the most knowledgeable superheroes in the multiverse, or in any case to understand – in part – how it works, after having been confronted with it in No Way Home then in the latest Marvel Studios movie. In addition to this knowledge, how not to mention the most obvious: its incredible power! He may not be as impressive as Wanda Maximoff, but he still has incredible powers that happily surpass those of most of the superheroes that made up the Avengers team.

On the other hand, it must be admitted that Stephen Strange is still far from perfect: he interacted with the Darkhold, which could have some pretty bad consequences later on. And, if it got better with time, he still has a rather oversized ego not helping to work in a team. But it is actually a common point with Tony Stark, which never prevented the latter from imposing himself at the head of the Avengers. Finally, in a more pragmatic way, Marvel Studios needs to highlight a powerful, popular character, which will be able to attract crowds in dark rooms just by being put forward on the posters.

If we could think of other superheroes such as Captain Marvel, also extremely powerful, so it would seem that Stephen can assert himself as the new figurehead of the MCU, all the more after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
