Doctor Who : and the new doctor is…
Season 13 of Doctor Who was for many fans a small disappointmentalready by its size, with six episodes, which makes the show’s smallest season Doctor Who. Since October 7, 2018 and season 11, fans of the series have been able to follow the adventures of the Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. An actress who divided the community, sinceshe was the first woman to play the Doctor we know so well. Although there are obviously other women of the same species as her. This management decision caused a lot of ink to flow at the time. After three seasons of good and loyal service, Jodie Whittaker will give way in the heartbreaking farewells that have punctuated the last episodes and will punctuate the dedicated special episode.
For some time now, fans have been watching the BBC’s broadcast channels to find out more about who would be the next incarnation of the Doctor. Many have therefore sought to find out who would be the next chosen one, or at least who would make a very good doctor, as Hugh Grant who also responded to these fan theories in an article to be found right here. Well, on May 8, they finally got the answer they wanted, via the BBC’s Twitter account. In their message published just before the shooting of the BAFTA Awards there is the following sentence:The future is here! Ncuti Gatwa is the doctor.”

Doctor Who : the first black doctor of the series
Once again, the BBC has decided to highlight diversity, but also youth, since it is the actor Ncuti Gatwa who has been chosen as the next face of the Doctor, making the British actor the first black representative in the eponymous role of the series … but also the youngest elected to play it, since he is 29 years old. Ncuti Gatwa is best known for his role as Eric Effiong, Otis’ gay best friend. in the Netflix series Sex Education. A series which will have earned him an excellent reputation, as well as the acquisition of numerous trophies by propelling his career in the cinema. Despite everything, he will not be the first black time lords, this is awarded to Jo Martin in 2020, who is truly the first time lord to represent this diversity.
And good news by training another, the BBC had also announced that former showrunner Russel T. Davies is reportedly back on the show after more than a decade away. To find out more, we will have to wait for the broadcast of the next special episode, which will also be the last appearance of Jodie Whittaker and will formalize her departure with the showrunner current Chris Chibnall. Her 2017 contract with the BBC provided for a presence of only three seasons at most, so there is no problem between her and the management, as some rumors could claim. The series will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2023and even if a special episode will obviously be there to celebrate, many imagine it will be a reunion of all possible ancient iterations of the Doctor. And that’s what David Tennant would like to see, in an interview that we present to you here.
