Marvel will break this incredible record in 2023

the universe Marvel has already given birth to an impressive number of films and series, but 2023 will most certainly be the year of a new record.

Marvel: a prolific universe

Superhero movies have been raining down on Hollywood for the past fifteen years, and the Marvel universe has a prominent place in these releases. It’s with the movie Iron Man in 2008 produced by Marvel Studios and the creation of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) – or Marvel Cinematic Universe – by Kevin Feige that Marvel will impose its franchise at the box office. After the three phases of the story arc known as The Infinite Saga, the MCU displays no less than 23 films released between 2008 and 2019. Among them, Avengers: Endgame is the most profitable film in the history of cinema: its receipts are around 2800 billion dollars. Since the launch of the fourth phase in 2020, 4 more films have been added to this list, for a total of 27 films just for the MCU. In addition to Marvel Studios – owned by Disney since 2009 – other big brands are inflating Marvel superhero films.

Alongside the Avengers, other characters from the universe have had their adventures adapted to film. This is particularly the case with the X-Men, whose franchise started in the year 2000 at Fox studios. Acquired by the giant Disney in 2019, the latter produced the trilogies x men and their prequels, the trilogy Wolverinemovies Dead Pool or even the New Mutants, for a total of 13 feature films. For their part, Sony studios contributed to the dominance of the Marvel universe by producing the films of the most famous spider-man, Spider-Man, as well as his spin-offs (Venom, Morbius), for a total of 8 films. Thus, since 2008, no less than 48 films taking place in the Marvel universe have been produced.

An unprecedented number of releases for 2023

The universe of Marvel films has been most prolific to date, but 2023 should be the year of the record number of releases for a year. The previous record was recorded in 2018, with 6 outings: Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp for the MCU, Deadpool 2 for Fox, and Into the Spider-Verse and Venom for Sony.

In 2023, it is indeed 7 new films within the Marvel universe that have been announced for next year. Marvel Studios has announced 4 releases for 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy part 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will serve as suites. We can note the introduction in the latter of the new big villain of the MCU: Kang. The third announcement concerns the release of The Marvelssequel to Captain America, while the announced fourth has not yet been unveiled. On their side, Sony studios have planned the releases of Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web and Spider-Man: into the Spider-Versethe latter originally scheduled for 2022 having been postponed.

The year 2023 will therefore be the most prolific in the Marvel universe with its 7 releases. Without forgetting, of course, the Marvel series for Disney+… If these next films of well-known superheroes will be added to the long list, certain characters from the Marvel universe are still unknown to the general public. We therefore expect to be amazed in the following years.
