Yes GTA VI has been waiting for almost 10 years, it is not the only video game to be desired. Among the highly anticipated titles in the coming years, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (which should have another official name) occupies the top of the podium. We have just learned information which, if it seems innocuous at first glance, could in fact confirm a fan theory!
A sequel eagerly awaited by players
Since the release of Breath of the Wild in 2017, open world (or “open world”) games have evolved greatly. The last unpublished part of the adventures of Link has indeed upset the video game industry, meeting with phenomenal success with both the public and critics. It is therefore quite logical that Nintendo has set out to develop a new opus, eagerly awaited by players.
Most are so impatient that they wait for the slightest information, the slightest clue, which might reveal just a bit more about the title, recently pushed back to next year. And if you were in lack of theories, then you should be happy: the Italian voice actor who lends his voice to the character of Daruk, a great Goron warrior, would have confirmed that Breath of the Wild 2 will take place on two different timelines!
Two timelines to plan for Breath of the Wild 2 ?
Since the release of the very first trailer for the sequel to Breath of the Wild, followed by another at E3 2021, the fans all go there with their more outlandish theories than the other. But one of them stands out and is very popular: the game’s story would take place on two separate timelines. This idea is essentially based on small details and in particular on the fact that the trailers seem to show us two different versions of Link, the main character.
To drive the point home, Pietro Ubaldi, Daruk’s voice actor in the Italian version of the first Breath of the Wild and in its sequel, made an interesting statement during an interview with the fan site Lega Hyrule. He affirms there indeed that he again doubled this character, but also an ancestor of this one. However, it turns out that Daruk is already dead in the first game and only appears in spirit form. If it could be the same for his ancestor, it is also very likely that we meet this one in flesh and blood, in the distant past. According to many players, the long-haired Link that appeared in the trailers lived no less than 10,000 years ago.
So, do you think the two separate timeline theory was accidentally confirmed? Or maybe it will just be flashbacks to specific moments in the game, or just players getting carried away for nothing yet again? Anyway, we will have to wait for other trailers to enlighten us on the subject. As a reminder, Breath of the Wild 2 should be released in the spring of 2023!
