There are only a few days left until the theatrical release. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of DarknessWhere Doctor Strange 2. The movie of Sam Raimi is the production of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) the most awaited of the moment and will have a heavy load on his shoulders. Maybe a bit too much, since the recent clip released by Marvel includes an impressive error that did not fail to shock the keen-eyed fans.
Doctor Strange 2 : a false connection bigger than the monster?
The film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness must be out by May 6, 2022 and is the first Marvel movie to hit theaters since the excellent Spider-Man: No Way Homeexcluding the recent Morbius. The latter left cinemas after 4 weeks of operationwhose poor press and audience reviews do not explain how the film was able to be hugely profitablewith an estimated minimum budget of $75 million and having grossed $153 million dollars. Sony was hesitant to show Morbius as an integral part of the Spiderverse, explaining only half-word its role and its place in it. You can find our full review of the film here. On the other hand, Doctor Strange 2 is well and good the film not to be missed if you want to understand everything about the multiverse installed by Marvel.
The film which stars Benedict Cumberbatch with Sam Raimi to production was due to arrive last year and be a direct explanation of how the multiverse works. But the very many delays and problems that the film has accumulated have shifted it by a year, passing after Spider-Man: No Way Home, whose role was to show all the mistakes not to make with the multiverse. Result, many scenes have been reshot, retouched and the film has been edited. And this is likely to be seen in the film, as is often the case in super-productions when the producers are a little too interested in it, as evidenced by Morbius precisely, the realization of which has been axed. And precisely in Doctor Strange 2, fans spotted a huge production error, visible in the clip of Wang and Stephen Strange’s fight against Gargantos. Doctor Strange 2 : a temporal blockage
Did you notice it? During the extract, nearly every Stephen Strange appearance is accompanied by a fleeing man with a briefcase. The scene was shot and recut many times, and each time the extras had to go back to the same place. This explains why this man with the briefcase comes back so often and flees until he arrives behind the guardian of time. Even if it is not impossible that it is an illusory world created by the magician, in which events loop back… Even if it is highly improbable, and it is certainly a pachydermic mismatch. The clip lasts 11 seconds and the author quips in the description “Me when I’m a 200 million dollar movie“.
This kind of mismatch can be easily explained, with all the problems that the film experienced during filming. It was probably necessary to reuse different shots and angles per need for the trailereven if the movements of Benedict Cumberbatch attest that they are different plans, and therefore of different shooting sequences. Another element, the trailers, especially at Marvel, no longer always carry the actual images of the film but often different versions, or even unused. They are created upstream of post-production or even at the same time as filming.
