We regularly tell you about the most ingenious forms that the Joker could take within the comicsand some of them clearly send shivers down our spines. Today, we wanted to talk to you about a Joker superpower that isn’t always used to its full potential, yet it could very well wipe out the entire DC Universe.
Zoom in on a scary Joker superpower
Although he doesn’t officially have any superpowers, the Joker has been shown to be able to essentially transform any other living thing into a version of itself. Video games, cartoons, movies, and comics have all shown that the Joker is capable of not only change the appearance of others with his Venom Joker, but also to cloud their minds in the hope that they become as sadistic as him. With the ability to turn a seemingly unlimited number of people into crazed killers, the Joker poses one of the greatest threats not only for batmanbut also for all DC Comics.
Humans, demigods, kryptonians and even animals have suffered the effects of Joker Venom. The Joker is apparently able to create his venom from any chemical, going so far as to make a variant of it from standard cleaning products. in Batman: A Death in the Family, a short comic series created by Jim Starlin and Jim Aparo. When you know the terrible consequences of this toxin, Joker Venom almost looks more like a superpower than a a purely scientific discovery.
Absolutely disastrous consequences
This power has been shown to have apocalyptic consequencesas in the story Batman: Endgame by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Danny Miki and Steve Wands. In this story, the Joker infects the Justice League a month in advance, making them adopt his violent sense of humor, his white skin and his permanent smile. The team goes after Batman, but could have easily gone after the rest of the world instead. Gotham is then infected with the Joker’s venom., which causes the same reaction in people. Soon, the entire city becomes full of jokerized citizens, and even the military forces arriving to contain the outbreak are infected. If Batman hadn’t found out the antidote in timea Joker pandemic would likely have swept the planet.
The contact with the Venom Joker in any form is fatal, whether as a gas, liquid, or simply by touching an object coated with it. With different versions who have delayed reactions or require multiple exposures, there is no way of knowing when or how this toxin will affect someone. This means that there is no real defense to put in place against this power, other than being able to dispense an antidote as quickly as possible. Therefore, whatever happens, the Joker can, almost always, have the last word. And could also very well annihilate the entire DC Universe if he wanted to.
