The issue of gender equality remains a contemporary issue, although we see that many efforts are being made, in many different sectors. Whether in the cinema with Marvel, or in aerospace with NASA, the world is trying to change practices and mentalities towards more equality. And this trend has been confirmed again recently in a german citybut in a rather surprising way.

This week, the municipality of the city of Göttingenlocated in Germany and known to be an important university center, is now also known to have allow women to be topless in the enclosure of its swimming pools during the weekends. This decision will be effective from May 1 and will last until the end of August.
But this decision did not come out of nowhere. Indeed, the latter occurs following an incident that took place last year in one of the city’s swimming pools, when an agent had asked a bather to cover her chest. The latter then refused, justifying that she identified as being of the male gender.. Following the incident, the person in question would have been banned from entering the establishment. All this will then provoke a real debate within the municipality, allowing to reach this conclusion.
Some then regretted the decision to restrict this possibility only to weekends, which the city’s municipality justified by indicating that this should not compromise school swimming lessons on weekdays.
Göttingen thus becomes the first city in Germany to allow women to be topless in a water leisure establishment, a decision hailed as a step forward in the debate on equal treatment between the sexes. However, you should know that in Germany, the practice is already established in some placesas in saunas for example, where most are mixed and require their customers to be naked for hygienic reasons.
