What’s great about cinema is thata majority of films benefit from being watched several times in order to grasp all its essence, to notice all its details. Sometimes this helps to better understand certain scenario elements (Cobb’s ring in Inception, the real ones know), or simply to pick up all the easter-eggs and other subtle details that some directors like to slip in, especially at Disney. In the present case, we will dwell on the costumes of films, which often conceal small juicy details, or whose story is sometimes quite amusing. #1 Pirates of the Caribbean
At the start of filming Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack Sparrow wore leather hats. But Johnny Depp kept dropping them in the water and these were sinking. To remedy this, the costume designers have decided to make rubber hats for him, because this material floats.

Throughout the saga, Snape is the only character to consistently wear the same outfit. This was indeed considered “perfect” for the character and the costume designers did not see fit to modify it.

The colors of the clothes worn by T’challa, Nakia and Okoye during their trip to Korea are the same as those of the Pan-African flag.

In The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, the Joker regularly licks his lips. His interpreter, Heath Ledger, was doing this because his fake scars kept falling off. In this way, he kept them in place.

The bandana worn by the Doc in the third installment of the franchise is made from the t-shirt he wore in the previous film, or in any case has the same motives.
#7 scott pilgrim
In this movie, Scott’s character can be seen wearing a “Plumtree” t-shirt. Plumtree was a Canadian rock band that released a title titled Scott Pilgrim in 1997. It was he who inspired the comics, which themselves gave birth to the feature film.

In the second installment of Captain America’s adventures in the MCU, Black Widow can be seen wearing a necklace with an arrow pendant. An obvious nod to his teammate, Hawkeye.

When Monica changes the color of the costume worn by Carol Danvers, she first chooses red and gold, in reference to Shazam. Indeed, before changing his name in 2011, he was himself known as Captain Marvel.

In the fifth part of Harry Potterthe infamous Dolores Umbridge wears darker and darker outfits as she unveils her true nature as a tyrant.
#11 once upon a time…in hollywood
Some of the jewelry Margot Robbie wears in Quentin Tarantino’s feature film belonged to Sharon Tate in real life. This was a great actress of the 60s in Hollywood, but was murdered in 1969 by members of the sect of Charles Manson.
#12 Forrest Gump
In this scene, Forrest meets his child for the first time and sits next to him to watch the cartoon. Ernest and Bart on the television. fun detail, both figures are dressed similarly to the two viewers.

In Deadpool 2we see Wade Wilson wearing a t-shirt on which he is inscribed “Olivia & Meredith, Best Friends Purrrr-Ever” (“friends for life”). This is a reference to Taylor Swift’s cats as well as real photos of them. The production had to ask the singer’s permission before shooting this scene.

#17 The Mad History of Space
For this 1987 film, director Mel Brooks asked George Lucas if he could parody the lightsabers of Star Wars (the entire film is a parody Star Wars). Lucas agreed, on the condition that the Captain Yop Solo character didn’t dress like his inspiration, Han Solo. Clever, Mel Brooks chose to dress this one in clothes similar to those worn by Indiana Jones, another cult character played by Harrison Ford.
#18 django unchained
One of the outfits worn by Django is a direct reference to the one worn by Michael Landon in Bonanza, a very long Western TV series started in 1959.

After Boromir’s death in The Fellowship of the Ring, Aragorn puts on his armbands to pay homage to him. He will keep them throughout the next two films.
#20 jurassic world
In the scene where Claire Dearing’s character says she’s ready to fight, her outfit and pose refer directly to Professor Ellie Sattler in the very first Jurassic Park.

The dress and position of the Oracle in Matrix refer to the Delphic Sibyl, painted by Michelangelo around 1510 and adorning the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Having been refused the realization of a James Bond, Steven Spielberg got his little revenge thanks to the success of IndianaJones. The adventurer played by Harrison Ford also makes direct reference to Sean Connery’s Leap by wearing exactly the same costume during a scene.
#23 star wars episode v: the empire strikes back
When he has to flee Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back, Lando Calrissian wears Han Solo’s clothes aboard the Millennium Falcon.
#24 john wick
Usually, John Wick wears his wristwatch normally. But when he sets off on his murderous crusade, he wears it with the dial facing inwards, as soldiers do.
#25 inception
And we end with the example mentioned at the beginning of this article: the ring worn by the character of Cobb in Inception. If the spinning top is “officially” his totem letting him know if he is currently in a dream or not, it is actually his ring that must guide the viewer: every time he is in a dream, he wears it, which is not the case in reality. At the very end of the film, he does not wear it.
