Thor 4, Jane Foster and the God of Thunder face Gorr

July 13, 2022 will mark the return of Thor in Love and Thunder, with Taika Waititi at the helm. The movie’s recently unveiled trailer from Marvel Studios was full of plot clues: it gave us a glimpse of Jane Foster’s powers as Mighty Thor, but also a more fit God of Thunder than ever before. after having too much abused beer and pizzas withinAvengers: Endgame. In this fourth installment of his solo adventures, Thor joins the Guardians of the Galaxy to find one’s place in the world and inner peace. But when Gorr the Butcher of the Gods undertakes to make the deities disappear, the God of Thunder is forced to come out of his retirement…

For now, we don’t really know how this new antagonist will be portrayed in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, the comics allow us to have some information about him… Gorr, the Godslayer is an atheist who tragically lost his entire family when his planet was decimated. Seeing its environment seriously threatened by famine and lack of resources, Gorr had appealed to the Gods to whom he asked for help. Without ever having received an answer from them, he witnessed the death of his wife as well as the loss of the rest of his family… This is how a deep hatred towards the Gods, supposed to protect the poorest, was born in the heart of Gorr. After getting the power of All-Black the Necroswordhe had only one objective: to avenge his planet for the ignorance of the Gods and to kill any divinity that populates this universe.

The planet of Gorr destroyed by the emergence discovered in The Eternals ?

A new theory claims that its origins have already been explored within of the Eternalsa film released in theaters on November 3, 2021. In it, the cliffhanger revealed that superheroes were not on earth to protect humans from deviants and various threats, but to ensure that the Emergence takes place in the best conditions. Emergence is an event that allows a new celestial to be born, destroying all forms of life by coming into the world.

One can therefore strongly imagine that the emergence was able to destroy Gorr’s home planet. If this theory holds true, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor might hear about Gorr’s actions through the tribe on Centauri-IV. In Gorr’s eyes, the Celestials do not deserve to live happily ever after as each of their births destroys a planet and an entire population. This is the reason why he desires to kill the Gods: thus, they will understand what he has been through. If this assumption is true in Thor 4this means that the Eternals would find themselves also threatened by the enemy featured in Love and Thunder. We hope that Thor is well warmed up because Gorr the Slaughterer of the Gods promises to be a formidable enemy…
