Red alert signs the best start on Disney+
Red alert, this is the latest film from Pixar studios to date! Released on March 11 on Disney+, it literally seduced fans, to the point of sign the best streaming platform startup. Red Turning (in VO) tells the adventures of Mei Mei, a 13-year-old girl “victim” of an ancestral curse. If she likes to laugh with her friends, attend concerts, ask herself a lot of questions or even answer her parents, Mei is not a pre-teen like the others: when she experiences emotions that are too difficult to grasp, she turns into…Red Panda! Helped by her friends, she must therefore decide if at the end of her adventure, she separates from this integral part of herself or if she accepts her difference. Among her group of friends, made up of Priya, Miriam and Abby, one of them is at the heart of a relevant theory ! Fans are indeed convinced that Abby is the older version of a heroine from another Pixar movie…
Is Abby the older version of Boo in Monsters and Co. ?
Indeed, Internet users are numerous to think thatAbby could actually be the teenage version of Boo, heroine of Monsters and Co.. In this animated film released in 2001, the little girl befriends two creatures, which do not scare her at all… If the fans are convinced that Abby is actually Boo, it is certainly related to their many physical similarities : in addition to being small in size, they sport the same hair color and the same cut: straight bangs on the forehead. Boo would then have swapped her pink scrunchies for a headband, because she is no longer old enough to make little duvets. The two Pixar heroines love purple and pink and their favorite patterns are small flowers and small hearts. Bonus, they enjoy the company of different people and help their friends accept their authenticity. So if all these details would allow us to think that Abby could indeed be a teenage version of Boo, is it actually possible in terms of timeline?
Boo is Abby, which doesn’t fit
Monsters and Co. was released in 2001 in dark rooms. If we consider that the plot is happening in real time, in this film as well as in Red alertBoo (who was 2 years old when we met her) would then have 23 years old today…which doesn’t fit. Moreover, this is not the first time that fans believe they see little Boo in a new Pixar movie. It was also said that the heroine was in Toy Story 3, either in the skin of Bonnie, the new owner of Woody and the other toys, or as a friend of the latter. It is therefore preferable to think that Pixar studios have fun integrating winks and references between its various films rather than highlighting the same character in several feature films. But after all, a theory is also there to sell us dreams, so everyone is free to believe in it if it makes them feel good!
