Oscars 2022: this joke about Kirsten Dunst angered fans, the secret service intervenes

The 2022 Oscars ceremony aroused many comments as you know, and in particular after Will Smith’s slap. But today, it’s not the actor we’re going to talk about, but Amy Schumer, who made a joke about Kirsten Dunstjoke which unfortunately attracted the wrath of many Internet users, as you will be able to see.

The joke made about Kirsten Dunst

Amy Schumer recently reported that the LAPD, as well as the Secret Service, contacted her about threats she received after performing a prank on Kirsten Dunst at the ceremony of Oscars 2022.

Amy Schumer.

The joke was this: Amy Schumer addressed Kirsten Dunst saying she was only there to fill an empty seat, and fill a space (thus implying, humorously, that the actress hasn’t been doing anything in particular lately years), and Amy Schumer then spoke to Jesse Plemons congratulating him on his performance in Power of the Dog. Jesse Plemons then declared that Kristen Dunst is his partner, and Amy Schumer pretended to be surprised by asking “The one who’s just there to fill a seat?”.

But what you need to know before anything else is that Amy Schumer had Kirsten Dunst’s blessing upstream to make this joke, and the comedian has also made sure that all the targets of his jokes were warned in advance. Amy Schumer said she even had contacted Leonardo DiCaprio about his joke about him dating younger women. And when you know how it turned out Jada Pinkett Joke produced by Chris Rock, we understand that comedians want to make sure beforehand that their targets agree (or not) with the joke that will be unveiled live during the ceremony. However, despite the fact that Kirsten Dunst was in on it, Amy Schumer aroused great anger, the embers of which are now slow to die down.

Death threats that keep raining

In the weeks following the Oscars, Amy Schumer was the subject of numerous death threats on social networks following this joke. She thus stated:

The threats were so cruel that the Secret Service contacted me about it. I said, “I believe you dialed the wrong number. It’s Amy, not Will.” Misogyny is unbelievable!

For Amy Schumerit is indeed totally unlikely to receive more threats than any other person present at the 2022 Oscars ceremony, including Will Smith, who distinguished himself with the slap episode.
