Doctor Strange 2: deemed offensive, this poster has just been censored

While many fans are having fun creating poster versions of the upcoming Marvel movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessone of them has just been the subject of controversy, at least within a European country.

The importance of details

The announcement of the release of the official poster of a film is, beyond being an important element in the communication campaign of a film, the opportunity to question the fans about certain details slipped here and the.

That of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is no exception to the rule, the most illustrious fans do not fail to scrutinize the smallest details in an attempt to analyze and unravel the mysteries surrounding Sam Raimi’s feature film. For example, let’s mention the presence of the shield of Captain Carter, Chthon, Rintrah or even several variants of Doctor Strange or Scarlet Witch.

A sign that does not pass

For their part, the most talented fans do not fail to imagine and create their own works, by slipping in a few references, or by feeding theories on the presence or not of certain characters.

On Reddit, for example, a user shared a poster of the second opus of Doctor Strange, where the latter places the famous sign of the horns, a rallying sign for metalheads, even rockers. If this gesture is supposed to represent the horns of the devil wants to unify, in other cultures, its meaning is quite different.

In the Italian version of the Doctor Strange poster, Steven’s left hand gesture has been changed because the original gesture has a very different meaning here in Italy…

In ancient Greece, and later in the heart of the Mediterranean basin, this sign means that the designated person is “cuckold”. In Italy is added to this the fact of also spreading the evil eye. Obviously, in the Boot, this poster was not very well received. Around the flood of comments that this one provoked, some Reddit users have hijacked the workwith one replacing the sign of the horns with the Sorcerer Supreme holding what appears to be a burrito.

Beyond this little hiccup, Marvel studios have recently been faced with another problem, that of linked to the remuneration deemed too low for Joe Casey, the co-creator of the superheroine America Chavez, who will be alongside Doctor Strange in the movie.

Between now and the film’s release on May 4, no doubt other fans will be sure to share their creations with the community. Here are a few here.
