Squid Game: back to the event series
In September 2021, Netflix strikes a blow. Indeed, the platform decides to produce Hwang Dong-hyuk’s project, which dates back several years. The first season of Squid Game sees the light of day last September and enters directly into the anal. Indeed, the show, which tells how an impressive number of candidates embark on a perverse and deadly survival to earn a huge sum of money, met an almost historic success on the platform. On the strength of its millions of hours of viewing, generating a real social phenomenon, the show is obviously renewed for a season 2. However, fans will have to be patient…
We will still have to wait
Interviewed during the Canneséries Festival, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the showrunner and screenwriter of Squid Game, confided in the rest of his series. While he wrote the beginning of his story in 2009, he hadn’t thought of writing a sequel then. Following the success of the first season, Netflix tapped him to write a sequel. But things are not moving quickly. As reported The ParisianHwang Dong-hyuk said that:
I don’t know when, to tell you the truth, I only wrote three pages…
Only three pages? Well, it’s clear that it’s not moving fast… At the moment, practically nothing is known about this second season. While most of the characters died in the first season, it’s hard to know who the new protagonists of this sequel will be. Some characters might return as hinted by Hwang Dong-hyuk in the past :
I will try to do something to bring them back in season 2. Let’s say Kang Sae-byeok maybe has a twin sister, you’ll see.
As for the release date, it remains even more vague. The writing of Squid Game 2 may in any case take time, since Hwang Dong-hyuk is currently working on a feature film titled KO Club.
