While series Halo, adapted from the famous eponymous video gamejust released this week, the series Paramount has already established a new recordthus becoming the best start for a series of Paramount+ streaming platform.
a nice start
The new television series, produced by Steven Spielberg and based on the video game universe Haloset a huge record for Paramount+. It becomes the first most-watched series on the service worldwide, and this during the first 24 hours of broadcast. It thus exceeds the previous mark established by the prequel of the series Yellowstone, 1883released in December last year.
As reported Deadlineno official figures have been released yet. But for reference, the first in the series 1883 on Paramount+ attracted 4.9 million viewers during a promotional broadcast following Yellowstone on Paramount Network. We will be able to get an idea of the magnitude of the audience of the series Halo when Nielsen’s rankings for the most-watched shows in streaming will be released. Note that no Paramount+ original program has yet reached the Nielsen top 10..
Series Halowhich debuted on March 24, was born at Xbox and developed at Showtime, before moving to Paramount+ about a year ago. Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer at Paramount+declared on the occasion of the launch of the series:
Give life to Halo as a series has been one of the most rewarding endeavors for Paramount+ to date and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the massive fan response to the series debut. Together with our phenomenal partners Showtime, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, we can’t wait for fans to experience more of this incredible universe.
the beginnings of the franchise?
The series, which it seems has already been renewed for a second seasontakes place in the universe having debuted in 2001 with the launch of the first game Halo on Xbox. Featuring an epic 26th century conflict between humanity and an extraterrestrial menace known as the Covenant, the series features Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, aka Spartan-117. We find in particular Natascha McElhone who embodies Dr. Halsey, the creator of the Spartan super-soldiers, but also Jen Taylor as Cortanathe most advanced AI in human history, and potentially the key to the survival of the human race.
Those numbers are largely understandable, however, given that this series adapts one of the greatest video game franchises of all time for the first time.. Considering the fact that the series is so tied to such significant intellectual property, it’s hard to say it’s a surprise. But it’s still a big win for the relatively new streaming platform.
Hopefully, the series will be able to find the balance between a good adaptation and satisfying the fans.. Because if the series Halo seeks to take the famous franchise in new directions, care will have to be taken not to stray too far from the source material. The premiere has already seen Master Chief remove his helmet to reveal his face, which games have always strayed from. But these bold changes may allow to create new stories with Master Chief, and thus to open the universe Halo in an unprecedented way.
