While the British writer has been at the heart for several months of a gigantic controversy that never ends, following her statements on transgender characters, JK Rowling receives quite particular support: that of Vladimir Poutine.
A scathing response
For several months now, JK Rowling, who we know above all for being the mother of the saga Harry Potter, is no longer in the odor of holiness. In effect, her multiple statements regarding the prevalence of biological sex over gender sparked many reactions on social mediaas well as among the cast of the film adaptations of Harry Potter.
If since the controversy broke out, the British writer has been able to count on a few rare supports, in particular that of actor Ralph Fiennes (the interpreter of Lord Voldemort), JK Rowling has just received somewhat unusual support: that of Vladimir Putin, who is not in the odor of sanctity eitherespecially since the war in Ukraine which occupies a large part of the news.
In a television intervention, the President of the Russian Federation has sharply condemned the Western cultural banishment that is hitting Russia.
Today they are trying to ‘cancel’ a whole 1000 year old country, our people. I’m talking about the growing discrimination against everything related to Russia, this trend in many Western countries. A campaign is underway against Russian composers, including Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff.
Comparing Western censorship of Russia to Nazi book burnings, the Russian head of state also cited the example of JK Rowling to support his point.
JK Rowling suffers from cancel culture because she, an author of books that have sold millions of copies around the world, did not appeal to the followers of so-called gender freedom.
This disguised “support” has provoked the anger of the British writer, who responded to Vladimir Putin on Twitter.
Critiques of Western cancel culture are possibly not best made by those currently slaughtering civilians for the crime of resistance, or who jail and poison their critics. #IStandWithUkraine https://t.co/aNItgc5aiW

Criticism of Western culture is perhaps ill-advised by those who massacre civilians for committing the crime of resisting, or who imprison and poison their opponents.
For now, we don’t know if this (false?) support from Vladimir Putin to JK Rowling and his scathing response will have any effect on the reputation of the British writer. If you liked this article, don’t hesitate to take a look at the tackle that English actress Emma Watson recently made to JK Rowling.
