As E3 2022 is fast approaching, Ubisoft is preparing an important announcement through a list of more than 20 projects. Among them, a cult studio license is about to be unearthed.
What horizon for 2022 and 2023?
Would Ubisoft prepare a big blow? The illustrious French development studio (which now has several subsidiaries) has been in trouble for some time. Its licenses which previously made it famous can no longer reinvent themselves, to the point of gathering dust. let’s think about Assassin’s Creed or far cry which, despite honorable sales, no longer have the stuff of what should be on offer in this decade. Today, the publisher is even singled out for resting on its laurels.
So what are the plans for 2022? behind the scenes, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope on Nintendo Switch and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are mentioned. But one insider well-known in the video game sphere would have unearthed new information, which reports a big announcement soon, materialized by the coming out of the closet of a cult license of the company based in Montreuil.

Indeed, according to Tom Henderson, Ubisoft could communicate in a significant way in the coming weeks on more than 20 games under development, including Immortals Fenyx Rising, The Crew 3, Assassin’s Creed: Rift, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Where Splinter Cell Remake. But it is indeed the evocation of a whole new Prince of Persia who challenges.
Henderson, who claims to rely on several sources, confirms that the French publisher would plan to reveal a new episode of Prince of Persia in 2.5D which would be inspired by Ori and the Blind Forest (the awesome Metroidvania and Games Award for Best Artistic Achievement in 2015), which would be in development near Montpellier (at Ubisoft Montpellier therefore, at the origin of Rayman Origins and Legends). The title would therefore be part of this list, the announcement of which would appear during the E3 period, this summer.
However, given the current situation, this broadcast would be put on hold for the time being. We are thus talking about an event on the sidelines of the great annual mass dedicated to video games.
Ubisoft had already announced that it was working on its license Prince of Persiavia the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time since September 2020, which was originally scheduled for January 2021, and which has been postponed several times since. This to such an extent that we still cannot currently estimate an exit window. This new 2.5D opus could steal the show from its elder at the next Ubisoft event.
