And to top it all, now CD PROJEKT, the publisher of the trilogy dads The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077announced that a new game The Witcher was in development, based on a new saga.
Several changes are therefore to be expected, from Geralt to the school of the Wolf via the REDengine. And for good reason, this new game will be based on Epic’s Unreal Engine 5. A technological partnership that will allow the studio to benefit from the expertise of the American giant but also from its services, its ease of development and its technical support. To accompany this announcement, the Polish publisher shared a single image of this unpublished saga: namely a medallion in the snow.
Unique image of this announcement, the latter was quickly analyzed by a host of impatient fans, allowing us to obtain new information. Be careful all the same, the analyzes of the said fans are only hypotheses, CD PROJEKT having not formalized anything apart from the first information provided. And according to the first returns, this medallion could represent the school of the Cat, one of the 7 official schools of the world of The Witcher. The School of the Cat is one of the few schools to train witchers who are both female and non-pure-blooded humans. A school that revolves in particular around the character of Ciri. Although trained at the school of the Wolf, Geralt’s apprentice wore a feline medallion, recovered from the corpse of the talented Leo Bonhart.
Only, many Internet users see it as the emblem of the Lynx school, the fault of pointed ears. Born from the imagination of fans, the Lynx school is not present in CD PROJEKT RED’s games or in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. But according to its history, the school of the Lynx was founded in 1273 by the characters Joel, Gaétan, Dragonfly, Lambert and Keira Metz after having tried to take over Dyn Marv (the HQ of the school of the Cat) from the Nilfgaardian soldiers. . It is therefore the remains of the school of the Cat that have been transformed into the school of the Lynx.
Scanty is the news, and fans are trying to get to grips with this new saga The Witcher with the little information at their disposal. Either way, one thing is for sure, it won’t be a The Witcher 4. It is therefore a safe bet that the players no longer embody Geralt. However, it is possible that it is Ciri who is now at the heart of the action. And for good reason, in one of the purposes of The Witcher 3, Ciri becomes a witcher. It is therefore possible that, after Geralt in the first trilogy, the players embody the character of Ciri. The Polish studio could also offer players the opportunity to create their own witcher to explore this dangerous and fascinating world.
At any rate, you will have to be patient. And for good reason, this new saga still has many years of development ahead of it. An announcement which undoubtedly aims to reassure both investors and players, while the competition is working hard at the start of the year.
