Zack Snyder's Justice League: Green Lantern Actor Shares Edited Deleted Scene Image

Having hit the headlines last year, a lot of fans had acclaimed the return of the famous director Zack Snyder with his famous Snyder’s Cut from the movie Justice Leaguethus making #RestoreTheSnyderVerse one of the main trends on social networks. Recently, an actor revived the debate around the film, with the publication of this image.

a superhero left behind

After the film’s release Justice League in 2017, fans were quick to point out how different the movie was from what director Zack Snyder had in mind. Indeed, the latter left the project in the middle of production, bringing Joss Whedon supervised numerous reshoots and Warner Bros. then strongly modified the final product.

It didn’t take long for fans to rally, asking Warner Bros. to release Snyder’s version with the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. After a fierce battle, fans have finally won their case after almost three years of struggle, with the release of the version of Justice League by Snyder airs on HBO Max in March 2021.

This version thus allowed fans to discover the film that the director initially wanted to produce, but also allowed them to discover new sequences, such as those of Knightmare or that of the Joker with Jared Leto. However, there is one character that the director was not allowed to include: Green Lantern.

John Stewart was originally scheduled to appear at the end of Snyder’s film, in place of the Martian Manhunter. Snyder had already entrusted the role of the DC superhero to actor Wayne T. Carr, and had even filmed the scene during confinement as reported ScreenRant. However, Warner Bros. requested that this scene be deleted due to their own plans for a franchise regarding the character of John Stewart, aka Green Lantern.

an unfinished project

What if the Green Lantern cameo was ultimately deleted from the film Justice Leaguee from Snyder, that didn’t stop him from teasing the character. The director had already offered a glimpse of the superhero during the promotion of the new version of the film in 2021, and yesterday on Twitter, Carr posted an image of the character, thus reviving the famous #RestoreTheSnyderVerse :

In broad daylight…

In Snyder’s original plans for Justice LeagueCarr’s Green Lantern was to appear before Bruce Wayne to warn him of the coming war with Darkseid. But since the movie ultimately didn’t keep that scene of Carr as Green Lantern, the actor naturally joined the legions of fans asking Warner Bros. to restore the SnyderVerse. One can imagine he could return in the Justice League 2 and 3 movies, should they ever happen.

Even though the studio has shown a willingness to explore multiple universes and bring different directors’ visions to life, there’s still no real progress on restoring the SnyderVerse. DC seems determined to move in a new direction, while Snyder tackles new franchises. Unless Zack Snyder’s Justice League inspires a massive new wave of requests for more content, it looks like this Green Lantern cameo will remain just a possibility of what could have been.
