Marvel: Black Panther hates this Avenger, and we understand why

If in the face of adversity avengers seem welded, their relationships are much more complex in intimacy. Evidenced by this hatred of Black Panther for this superhero Marvel.

A visceral hatred

When we talk about the Avengers, we could mistakenly think that it is a close-knit team, uniformly motivated by unfailing solidarity and friendship… This image of Épinal has obviously been reinforced by cult scenes from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like the “Avengers! Rally!“, during the climax ofAvengers: Endgame.

However, their relations are sometimes based on certain antagonisms. As shown by the many wars that deeply divided the Avengers, especially in the comics Civil War by Mark Millar and Civil War II by Brian Michael Mendispitting Captain America vs Iron Man and Captain Marvel vs Iron Man respectively.

But even outside of big events, some Avengers hate each other. For example, T’Challa, better known as Black Panther, experiences a deep resentment towards one of his teammates: Namor. First antagonist of the Fantastic Four, the “Prince of the Seas” later joined the Avengers team, while being affiliated with the X-Men…

But the Sovereign of Wakanda’s hatred of Namor isn’t a result of his past as a former villain. But rather extremely strained relations between Wakanda and the Atlanteans. Relationships that have only gotten worse, especially in the event Avengers vs. X-Menin which T’Challa had offered hospitality to mutants by opening the doors of Wakanda to them, before Namor betrayed himkilling many Wakandan residents.

In issue number 54 of the series avengers, Black Panther confirms that his hatred for the Atlantean is still alivedespite the fact that they are forced to collaborate within the Avengers.

– I thought you would be the one I would have to convince.

– Oh, I hate you more than he will ever hate you. But we’ve all seen what the Avengers are up against, so that’s beside the point.

This anecdote tells us a lot about the true functioning of the Avengers. Faced with an enemy whose power requires group cohesion, Marvel superheroes are sometimes forced to put aside their grievances, and collaborate. That doesn’t negate them though…

Moreover, it is important that the general public is interested in the complex relationship between T’Challa and Namor, since the Atlantean will soon enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will tell the confrontation between Wakanda and this new people whose technology surpasses theirs. As a reminder, the film will be released in France on November 9, 2022.
