Star Wars: Here's Why You'll Never See Sith Replacements In Disney Movies

In the universe Star Wars, the Jedi fight against the Sith. But the franchise is teeming with hundreds of alien species. Among them, there is one that could replace the Sith in future films except that unfortunately fans will never see it. Here’s why.

The successors of the Sith, fearsome barbarians

When the public discovered Star Wars, the extended universe of the license has developed with a history just as rich as that in the films. It is considered that the novel Splinter of Mind’s Eye by Alan Dean Foster, published in 1978, laid the foundation for this extended universe. However, given the success of the films, George Lucas decided to make the work non-canon. Thus, after the release of Return of the Jedi, fans will have had to wait more than ten years to discover new films in the cinema. At the same time, the extended universe of Star Wars got rich and in the series The New Jedi Order, a new enemy has been brought forward. Her name ? The Yuuzhang Vong.

This species from another galaxy invaded the galaxy twenty-five years after the Battle of Yavin. This is a people who worships pain, sacrifices ritually, and hates anything near mechanical technology ranging from droid to spaceship. They prefer their organic technology which relies on living spaceships designed by bio-technicians to allow them to fly and help them in their galactic conquest often compared to that of the Huns or the Mongols.

Originally, the Yuuzhan Vong lived peacefully in their galaxy. But after a conflict with another species, which they lost, they turned into fearsome warriors. At the end of the war, their galaxy is no longer habitable and they are forced to go into exile in the void separating the galaxies for thousands of years. During this period, the Yuuzhan Vong turn against each other and when Shimrra manages to rise to power and become Supreme Lord, he discovers a galaxy in which “Infidels” regard the machines as their fellows. He then launched a crusade and when the New Republic experienced instability, a new war began.

Impossible to see this species at Disney

Although the Yuuzhan Vong have appeared in comics and novels, they have never been shown on screen. And this should continue. Indeed, this species that thirsts for conquest and kills in the name of their gods is not likely to appear in future films. Star Wars produced by Disney. Their degree of barbarism does not match the image that the studio wishes to offer to the public. What’s more, the religious aspect is very rarely addressed in the films of the franchise although the Force is called religion, it is more akin to a practice such as Buddhism or Shinto. At last, their bio-technology is so different from the aesthetics of Star Wars that many casual fans wouldn’t buy into the concept.

So that’s why audiences will likely never see the Yuuzhan Vong on the big screen unless Disney decides to go for a Rated-R Star Wars movie. In the meantime, they continue their conquest and fight against technology in the franchise’s extended universe.
