Initiatives are multiplying to help the Ukrainian people. The latest offers you to send the Russian President into space. And not just anywhere! To punish him for his crimes, Vladimir Putin would be dismissed on a distant and unwelcoming planet in our solar system.
Imminent take-off for Vladimir Putin!
The initiative is laughable, but it really exists. A few days ago, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transition gave the green light for the opening of a site and a mysterious kitty, whose address you can find by clicking on this link. According to the homepage, the purpose of the initiative would be “to send Putin to Jupiter”. The point is also illustrated by a small animation showing the Russian President behind the window of a rocket ready to take off.
Also on the site (only accessible in English, Russian and Ukrainian), the government of Volodymyr Zelensky explains: “Donate to help us build a rocket that will send a bloodthirsty dictator far, far away.”
If the initiative is laughable, it is important to say that it works more than anyone would have imagined. Nowadays, the pot raised over $2.228 million in donations. Is humanity going completely insane? Well no. In reality, the money raised by the site will not actually be used to propel Putin into space, but will rather be used for “help the Ukrainian armed forces and rebuild the destroyed infrastructure in the country”. The goal of this kitty is set at 100 million dollars. On Twitter, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine did not hesitate to encourage billionaire Elon Musk to make a donation. As a reminder, the founder of Tesla recently challenged Putin in “single combat”.
