War in Ukraine: Epic Games players collect this astronomical sum

Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, politicians and associations have been trying to help Ukrainians. This Monday, March 21, it’s the turn of Epic Games, publisher of Fortniteto announce thatpart of the profits from his game will be donated to charities operating in Ukraine.

Two weeks to raise funds for Ukraine

This is not the first time that an entity in the video game industry has launched this kind of initiative. After the partnership between UNICEF and Microsoft, it’s Epic Games’ turn to align themselves by unveiling an action to donate the profits of the real purchases of his game Fortnite for humanitarian organizations operating in Ukraine.

The operation was launched on Monday March 21 and will last until April 3. The studio has already recorded an astronomical sum since in just 24 hours, 36 million dollars have been collected.

Clearly, all profits from V-bucks, subscriptions, battle passes and some cosmetic packs are affected. The publisher also states that “physical store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-bucks cards will be included if redeemed in-game during this time“. In addition, until April 3, the price of Fortnite club member subscriptions will also be taken into account.

Funds that will be transferred immediately

Epic explains that it doeswill not wait for the end of the operation to donate the funds to the various associations (Direct Relief, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, United Nations Children’s Fund and World Food Programme). As a result, as transactions are recorded, funds will be sent within days for humanitarian aid organizations.
